“Django Unchained” is without a doubt the best film of 2012, a slick, sharp-tongued, bloody action epic that has Quentin Tarantino’s fingerprints all over every smartly homaged frame. Smart dialogue, an incredible soundtrack, and more blood than all the horror flicks of 2012 combined are what usually make Tarantino’s films so indulgently fantastic, the kind of movies that real movie-lovers love. And that’s all here, with a double check on the amount of blood as Django teams up with a Dr. Schulz to rescue his wife from the hands of a mad man, and violently exacts vengeance on her captors. But Tarantino’s films have also always featured strong, wonderfully defined performances, and there’s no shortage here. Jamie Foxx as the vengeance-seeking Django, Christoph Waltz as the dentist-turned-bounty-hunter King Schultz, Leonardo DiCaprio as the violently eccentric plantation owner Calvin Candie, Kerry Washington as Django’s lost love, and Samuel L. Jackson in a scene-stealing performance as Steven, Candie’s right-hand man. That only Waltz managed to get Oscar’s attention is a travesty. I would have given a nomination to Foxx, DiCaprio and Jackson as well, if I had the choice. Unfortunately, I don’t. An incredible host of famous faces rounds out the epic cast, including a bit part by a lazy-eyed Jonah Hill and a hilariously explosive cameo by the director himself. Don’t like Westerns, you say? This will be your exception, as it both affirms and breaks the sacred and longstanding rules of the genre, and throws in some new elements to redefine and reinvigorate (an Oscar-worthy original rap song, for instance). At 165 minutes, the film seems to be reaching a ridiculously violent climax during a shoot-out for the ages, but Tarantino is only beginning to turn on the heat at this point, and the ending will have you boiling over with excitement.

If you're a fan of Quenton Tarantino, you know exactly what to expect - lots of blood and cursing with a cast of regulars and lots of fun cameos. Do not see this is you are easily offended, because it is over the top...way over the top!
Django is Tarantino's foray into the Italian Spaghetti Western genre, which was a take off from Kurasawa's Samuri films, which were taken from John Ford's John Wayne Westerns. And here the circle comes full round back to the American West in a story where a slave becomes a bounty hunter who wants to get his wife back from a sadistic Mississippi plantation owner played by Leonardo DiCaprio. Tarantino never misses an opportunity to twist the idea of an African American in the days of slavery in every possible way he can. Jamie Foxx (Django) is an escaped slave who becomes a free man with the help of Christoph Waltz who plays a dentist turned bounty hunter. Together they hunt down and legally kill white men (outlaws) for money. Samuel L.Jackson is a freed slave who works as DiCaprio's aged right arm henchman. Tarantino loves to take history and rewrite it (as he did in Inglorious Basterdz). Watch for his brief appearance near the end as an Australian. Check out the credits at the end to see who some of the cameo players were. And stay for a short bonus scene after the credits.

Over 95% of this movie was nothing but blood and gore. I'm surprised Di Caprio and Jackson associated themselves with such a disappointment.

Excited that I've FINALLY paid and seen a movie that was worth my $$$ and time. The 3 hours flew by cuz it just never started to bore me or made shift butt cheeks in my chair. Quentin is a genius on his job!

We saw the movie tonight and thought it was one of the better movies we've seen in the past several months. As most have stated, this is a classic Taratino film - bloody, funny, and downright excellent. For the length of time this film played, it went by quickly. There are no "deadspots" or movie drag. We counted approximately 45 "N-words,"(we may have missed one or ten) which by no means came across as offense given the timeframe and historical nature of the film. As a matter of fact, many times, it was funny. We would see this movie again and definitely plan on purchasing it when it comes out on DVD.

I don't like cowboy movies. I don't like westerns. But I LOVED Django.
I only went to keep my husband company and for the popcorn but I ended up loving this movie.

Django kept me engaged throughout almost three hours of a myriad of emotions. At first it seemed a little slapstick in a way, then it turned darker after the midpoint. Some scenes in the movie might be very disturbing to some, and there is plenty of bloodshed to the point of "overkill." Still, the story itself was well done, and the acting superb. I really don't know why, but I expected a different type of movie judging from the trailers. Go enjoy it, but be aware that some parts might leave you a little squeamish. Great dialogue, great actors!

Quentin Tarantino has created a masterpiece. This is probably my favorite movie of the year. For those who think this is a racist, overly-gory movie promoting gun violence needs a reality check. Tarantino makes movies about characters, and that's just what this does. Humans are violent, mean creatures. Crawl out from under your rocks and see this movie! You will be at the edge of your seat rooting for Django. EVERYONE in the theater was going through a variation of emotions through the movie whether it was laughing, crying, or even at the verge of putting their hands over their faces. There are many memorable quotes. Also everyone gave great acting performance, but NO ONE WILL EVER forget Samuel Jackson's performance. If you are thinking about watching this movie, just go and see it. You won't regret it!

Django Unchained is one of the most brutally uncomfortable films I've experienced in quite a while. I felt uneasy nearly the entire time. Though Quentin Tarantino is clearly attempting to shine a light on America's disgusting history of slavery, his insatiable on-screen bloodlust glorifies violence in a way that rivals the fantasies of any real life mass murdering psychopath. I believe the film will be considered one of the most violent and socially offensive films in recent memory, but I guess that was the point he was trying to make. Definitely not a good movie for mentally ill people with gun collections and a plan.
Overall the film lacked the smooth style, clarity and focus that made Inglorious Basterds such a great film.

Django Unchained is a mix of Western, Action, Drama, with some tongue in cheek similarities to the Sergio Leone spaghetti's. Some good laughs sprinkled in. The movie is violent, but not as much as I expected based on others reviews. Its typical Tarentino. Acting is excellent and I would sincerely give an oscar nom to Christoph Waltz. This guy was excellent and the movie dropped a notch when he was not in the scenes. My date was able to overlook the violence and loved the movie.

Only 'has been' directors seem to be focusing on the supposed "racism" of this movie..this movie uses valid language.. just like holocaust movies used the term "jew"!!.
The actors are superb, the story is wildly entertaining, the dialogue is pure wonderful Quentin! MUST SEE IF YOU LOVE HIS MOVIES!

This movie is by far one of the greatest movies. I was not bored at all throughout the whole movie. It is very violent which is not an issue to me because I am into intense movies. You will catch yourself laughing and feeling sad as well. Forget the negative comments, some people are offended because it does have to do with slavery, but it shows you how narrow-minded people were back then and it is a very intriguing movie. It is now one of my favorite movies! Quentin Tarantino did an astounding job!!

In the "Deep South" 2 years before the Civil War, Django (Jamie Foxx) is a slave with a brutal history. Along comes German born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz who purchases Django and then frees him. Dr. King Schultz teaches Django how to be a "Bounty Hunter" because he needs Django to lead him to the Brittle Brothers; Django's former slave owners who happen to be Dr. Schultz’s Bounty. They travel cross country to nab wanted murderers "Dead or Alive". All the while Django is honing his skills because he wants to get revenge on who ever has his wife Broomhilda.
Django tells Dr. Schultz about his wife Broomhilda (Kerry Washington) who he lost to the slave trade long ago. They find out that Broomhilda is currently living on a very rich slave owner’s plantation. Dr. Schultz devises a plan to purchase her and free her. The story unfolds from there...
Well paced Story, but at times will make you angry. The movie is very intense, brutal and contains lots of action.
"Django Unchained" will keep you on the edge of your seat. Additionally the movie is very bloody and contains a lot of foul language. "Django Unchained" is probably the most "Brutal" movie that I have ever seen from Director Quentin Tarantino, but is worth the price of admission.

Look I go t the movies 2-3 times a week and this is a definite YES for me - forget all the lame reviews - those people probably hated blazing saddles

I enjoyed watching this movie saw it Christmas day, it made me mad of course but it's a great movie with great acting it don't seem that long. The Doc was fantastic.

Great movie, excellent storyline, definitely worth the money. Jamie Foxx is in his element and Leonardo DiCapprio makes for a funny plantatiion owner. I would definitely recommend this movie for anyone 16 and over, since there is a lot of blood and guts and male frontal nudity (once of twice).

I saw a private showing Quentin is one of my favorite directors,
Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson, Christoph Waltz, Kerry Washington, Jamie Foxx are some of my favorite actors,never a dull
moment worth every dollar that you have to spend on a ticket.
Some might not like that it is about slavery,that was then this is now.
It will make you cry and laugh.
Buy your ticket and enjoy this movie it is oscar worthy. I give it 5 popcorn bags fore I will be going to see it again.
