Seals were real, not the best actors, but that didn't have too much of a negative impact on a movie that exemplifies military pride. Live fire scenes drove excitement into the action of the film and authentic uniforms and rank recognition increased the level of realism in the film that is much needed in our world of CGI special effects. And did I mention the action was cool?

This movie should be seen by every American who loves the ideals and principles upon which this great nation was founded. In fact, even skeptics should see it, for the message of this movie is precisely what America was raised up by God to do: Defend the weak, rescue the perishing, provide refuge for the oppressed, and punish the evildoer.
There is something for everyone here, except perhaps the pre-teen set who should probably not see some of the violence depicted during the pitched battles, or the hear the rough language used in some of the more intense scenes. But even though there is a great deal of violence, as well as some profanity, none of it is gratuitous. Thankfully, there is no sensuality, gratuitous or otherwise. It is a frank depiction of soldiers in realistic combat situations. But in all of it, the love of family, the comradeship of brothers in arms, the love of country, and the respect for men and women of good will, shines through like a searchlight, illuminating what is truest and best in every faithful defender of freedom.
Act of Valor had me smiling one moment, weeping another, and cheering the next. The theater broke out into applause at the end.I loved this movie. It will be well worth seeing again and again.

This movie left me with a renewed sense of pride in the US! What a wonderful way to let us get a glimpse of what life is like for our SEALS! We have no idea what they have done for us, how many disasters they have stopped. I left in tears. Tears of pride for them and for my personal post 911 hero lost in Iraq. I look froward to seeing Mike again and thanking him for his sacrifice. As for "acting", I think they did great! I've seen worse acting, much worse.

Most of the reviews out there by the professional critic community will tab this as "lacking character development" or "mere propaganda for the military". The reality is that this is a chance to see actual special op hardware and procedures mixed in with an admittedly generic terrorist plot. At the end of the movie, if you don't have an appreciation for the SEAL (or all volunteer military personnel for that matter) dedication and removal from everyday comforts that we enjoy, then yes, you're not going to understand the appeal of the movie. I got to see a screening of this last September at the studio that made the movie (Bandito) and have been talking about it for months. Enjoying it in a DBOX seat gave it an extra element -- at the very least, if you hate the movie, make a matching donation of your tickets/concessions to a military foundation.

I thought this movie was very good, especially given the fact that it was all SEALs and their support teams that were doing most of the acting. It was very minimalist on Hollywood special effects (CGI), and it showed the men and women of the NAVSPECWAR at their finest. If you want a cheezy Hollywood style movie like this, I recommend US Navy Seals starring Charlie Sheen. However, if you want to see real SEALs doing something, while still having a plot, watch Act of Valor.

I have read through some of these reviews and must say...some people don't get it. Comments about "acting" and propaganda... wow, just wow. The conversations in mission prep are accurate, spoken matter of factly, and the "acting" is dead on. Most of these comments are obviously coming from people that have never spent time on the two-way range. While having "Hollywood" in it, this movie is very accurate. The message is excellent, and the sacrifice these men and women make is immense. Watch it, enjoy it, and remember the sacrifices made daily.....

Good action flick under given qualifications of actors, not bad. Even Clint Eastwood's early spaghetti westerns had their moments! On other sites some discussion of TTPs and if too much hardware was shown making it easier for bad guys to know what true capabilities are. A double edge sword like a Somali wrist crisknife... Over all a good action flick, not too heavy on the PR side of house, will do some good things for SEAL images. In Navy speak: BZ, Hoo Yaah, and DBF from a Hard Hat diver who in earlier times did some support. Hooh Yaah!.

I usually don't review movies but I do want to warn people if you are going to see this movie for an action packed thriller like I was and like the previews showed you will be let down. The movie was at a very slow pace, action scenes few and far between, and the whole movie was had very predicable ending. The whole story and idea was very good, but it is not what you would expect from the previews I would not see it again.

The storyline could have been better. I guess because the real Navy Seals played the dialogue was lacking emotion. But the action scenes did the justice to the movie. What really impressed is the execution of the movie. Some shots are just insane. From their trailers I saw that they have used Canon 5D cameras for the movie and I was wondering why. Now when I watched it I know why...No spoiler alerts! SO GO DEFIANTLY WATCH IT IN THE THEATER!

I dont usually review movies, I go every weekend to see them though. Its hard for me to enter a Monday without having seen everything playing at the movies with exception of animation. Now to "ACT OF VALOR"....Really good movie, I did have some complaints in my head throughout the movie but after the last 20 mins, they no longer existed. I will say that those thoughts were based on the acting, the character were not very natural at times with line delivery. But I guess that was kind of expected since they are soldiers. I wonder how "natural" Brad Pitt would be at recovering a CIA hostage? I really feel this is a must see movie for every American!! You wont leave this movie smiling probably but you will leave with happiness inside!!

Act of Valor" smartly refrains from jingoistic flag waving. What it does is spotlight the quiet heroism of the men - and women - who fight and die to keep this country and us safe. Through the use of active duty Navy SEALS, live ammo and helmet cameras, Act of Valor produces insanely realistic action. Just don't go in expecting good acting from the SEALS. Worth watching for the heavy doses of authentic SEAL action- but keep in mind that this is still propaganda. A must see

Great action paced perfectly throughout. There is much bloodshed, but that's what you expect in warfare. Many, many sweet head-shots. Also, great examples of military tactical coordination. Work as a team and execute your part. Realism gets a credit, too. There is nothing that happens in this movie that doesn't happen in reality all over the world.
I thought it was great how it showed U.S. and allies sacrificing themselves to SAVE lives, and the terrorists sacrificing themselves to TAKE lives. Polar opposites.
Great movie and I stayed through all the credits out of respect for the men and women in the armed service. Great movie!

After seeing this first show on opening day of Act of Valor I can say I always feel that if you go to the movies and the film can bring out emotions in you that you weren't feeling when you walked in, then its an excellent film. Act of Valor does this, its powerful and action packed and shows respect and dignity to the US Navy Seals. The way I felt while viewing was it made you feel like you were there in the trenches with the Seals. I highly recommend this film to anyone.
