Don't let the critics kill this movie. This movie takes its time developing, but it has wonderful light moments (and there are plenty of them) and some serious moments too and balances them beautifully. If you're looking for lots and lots of jumpy action shots; lots of vroom vroom bang bang boom (car chases, shootouts and explosions), you get them here, but without the jumpiness, and every single one serves the plot. Depp and Hammer are great as are all the villains, and the story builds nicely to a wonderful nostalgic climax. A little slow in spots? Maybe. Some aberrant vampire bunnies? OK. But how director Gore Verbinski, the writers and editors got this one past the money men is probably a story in itself. The cinematography is gorgeous and every shot, (except for the bunnies), and every bit of spectacle serves the story. I can't remember the last time a big Hollywood movie cared about story, or characters for that matter. The only thing at fault here is the marketing campaign which gives the impression the movie is one big heartless yuck. Well it's not. And don't hold that against it. Don't let this movie die! GO SEE IT!

J. Depp truly made this movie. The suttle references to the earlier Lone Rangers add to the humor in this movie. I would say boys from age 8 on up will enjoy this film, while girls may not so enjoy it so much at an early age.
Disney has a great movie on their hands and I look forward to seeing it again.

Don't go to this movie expecting it to be like the original Lone Ranger you saw as a kid. This was still a very good movie... especially if you like Johnny Depp humor and plots. Don't take small kids, too much blood and guts.

Of course, Tonto was spectacular, and the Lone Ranger developed throughout the movie. I found the story followed the old series (good thing). Pay attention to what they say, because there is trickery or humor in some conversation. Overall great movie.

Do NOT go see this movie!!!! Don't waste you money on this PC garbage. This movie is all about how evil the United States is and even wraps the American Flag and the Star Spangled Banner around that evil. The producers of this movie must have never seen or heard of the "Lone Ranger" from the AMERICAN past. Even though the action and special effects were spectacular the movie went out of its way to display the United States and its military as greedy and evil. A bunch of Hollywood garbage. What happened to the Lone Ranger fighting for "Justice and the American Way." SAVE YOUR MONEY DON'T GO.

This movie is a lot of fun for those who aren't put off by killing scenes... (maybe not so great for young children). The story telling format leaves room for the bit of slapstick that ensues, and makes for a really entertaining good old movie with big fun delivered by Depp.

Just got back from this movie. My husband and I really enjoyed it. Everything was so good in it. It was entertaining, original and entertaining the way they presented in a story tell manner. Even for retrospective they even had some retro from the tv series. Go to be entertained, sit back and enjoy yourself Its really good.

Johnny Depp was a great Tonto, Armie Hammer not so much but part of that could be writing/directing. Great one liners by Depp. Very, very long chase scene. I really enjoyed the kid and old Tonto interaction and story telling throughout the movie. Depp should get several awards for this film.

It is good. Johnny Depp does an excellent job as Tonto and plays it with humor. Arnie Hammer is a good straight man playing The Lone Ranger. This is one of those movies where I believe the sequel will be better than the original.
It was fun and I know the kids enjoyed it. I felt something was missing but I can not put my finger on it, so I will end saying it was okay.

Once again Johnny Depp is the show stealer. He is just hilarious and my family loved his part throughout. However, the Lone Ranger not so much. I just didn't like that the Lone Ranger was such a wuss. I guess it made for funny dialogue but I would have wished he turned into a bad ass. It sort of like watching the Spider-Man movies. The lead character needs to be much more powerful and not a wimp. We did love that the Director paid homage to the original with Silver the Horse and the Music!

Johnny Depp is awesome again. And for the part so was Armie Hammer, although his lines were kind of cheesy. My favorite part was the two of them coming out of the silver mine.
Depp's acting again was superb. Was that him playing the old Indian, too. Wow!

It was right on point for those of us that remember the original series. Acting was good...I will see it again!

Too long, silly, boring.....horse on top of the train...seems the horse was the star...i saw White House down a few days ago, a much better movie with action, better acting and a story.

If you grew up watching the Lone Ranger or listening to it on radio, this movie will disappoint you. It is full of bathroom humor that you would find in a bad Adam Sandler movie. The story line is weak and choppy, and they make the Lone Ranger look foolish. Not crazy about what they did with Tonto either, even though Johnny Depp acted well. The love was too long and had no flow to the story line. Disney totally wrecked a classic this time.
Cons slow, too many liberties with story line.

This film is stunning to look at and the last fifteen minutes alone make it well worth going but WITHOUT your small children. It feels like Verbinski and Bruckheimer shot two separate films - a fun, adventure film where Depp hogs the camera and a dark,, brutal film that feels uncomfortable against the comedy -- and then pieced those two films together.
Some of the supporting characters feel flat while other are just pointless. Subplots abound so pay attention and don't get up and go to the bathroom. The score is amazing. Try not to get caught up in the music and forget to watch the film! And, should you find yourself feeling like the film is trudging along too slowly, hang in there. There will come a moment when you'll think "now THIS is the film I came to see!" but it doesn't show up until it's almost over.
Language is mild but the violence is not implied and one death scene is particularly gruesome and disturbing.
This film earns its PG13 rating.

Pretty good movie, would recommend to see. However there are some parts (killing parts) that may be disturbing to little ones. (It shows a lot) Of course Jonny Depp did wonderful in his role, however he doesn't have many speaking parts. Did drag out at some points too.
