A great prequel to the classic original. The story line and background holds true to lead into the Wizard of Oz. Well done Disney. Very please with the studio efforts and the risk of gambling on this script. Two thumbs up!!

I got board! Was expecting more since we are talking the whole OZ thing. most interesting charactor was China, effects and detail were awesome. The rest so-so. It's all just seemed so done already. Kids will dig it but it was just slow and uneventful for me.

great story line, love how it tyed the wicked witch in this story which can relate to the wizard of oz. Left a potential for another movie to tie in the Ruby slippers. I totally enjoyed this movie as well as the fact that it can be seen as a precursor of the Wizard of Oz.

I thought it was beautifully shot. The Wicked Witch's face was poorly done, which made it difficult to take her serious. Other than, that, no complaints. I thought the humor was great. I loved it!!

My wife and I saw Oz, The Great and Powerful yesterday. I enjoyed the prequel and adhering to the original books. We enjoyed the movie and recommend it for Children and Big Children alike, especially if you grew up or recently watched the original Wizard of OZ. Middle was a little slow for my wife's taste, but I understand the need to build to the conclusion and link the original movie.

I took my daughters to see this movie. My 8 year old loved it. I felt it was a little slow and hard to keep my interest. I liked the story line. It's a great beginning to the original Wizard of Oz movie but I would have preferred to watch this at home. I didn't think it was worth watching at the movie theater.

My expectations for this movie must have been extremely high because 20 minutes into the movie, I had already felt a sense of discouragement. It took FOREVER for the wizard to get through his journey and I was anxious to get out of the black and white scene. I didn't enjoy it as much as I had anticipated and was very disappointed. The camera movement at points in the movie were so fast, we didn't know where we were supposed to look. I felt dizzy just from the camera alone. I stayed until the credits to see of anything else would hint a new movie following this one. I left confused and thought it was a waste. It is certainly worth the dollar movie. Mila & Michelle did awesome as the witches. I really enjoyed Sour Puss.

This movie was a lot better than we expected. It was funny, visually entertaining and it kept our attention. James Franco was outstanding and Mila Kuniswas also great. I loved the way that it was written. It didn't copy the classic Wizard of Oz movie, but we could relate. Really glad it didn't focus on Dorothy and those Ruby Slippers. I noticed children laughing out loud throughout the movie. The Monkey and the "Sourpuss" were hilarious and the Porcelin doll was really cute. We hope that there's a sequel coming soon.

The only thing I liked in this movie were the special effects and the china doll. Everything else was drawn out and got really boring. We came very close to walking out. The acting was bad and got to the point of being silly and boring.

The movie as a whole was entirely too long and drawn out over 2 hours. I think if various parts were left out and the movie was a bit shorter then it would have been perfect. The most redeeming qualities of this movie were any time Michelle Williams was on screen (because she is perfect) and the character of Finley. I would still recommend seeing it, but make sure people know that it can be somewhat yawn-inducing at times.

This movie is destined to be as much a classic as the Wizard of Oz! The story was completely engaging and it's nice to see a movie that isn't afraid to fit in with a canon laid out by a previous movie (I'm looking at you, Prometheus).
If you've ever wondered what happened before Dorothy arrived, see this movie!

It started slow. The introduction to the character Oz was lengthy. Once in the land of Oz, the story began to form into what was expected from this movie. They pulled it together nicely and I believe it will lead to a remake of the Wizard of Oz in the future.
Pros good prequel to the wizard of oz

The movie was fun and interesting with terrific special effects. The acting was good and the story line tracked. The movie never dragged, and even though it was over two hours, I could have watched longer because the Edge 5 Bistro Theater was like a living room.

While nothing will ever replace Over the Rainbow and 1939 version of The Wizard of Oz as a child I always wondered where the Wizard of Oz came from. The three adults in our group enjoyed the move, both the story line and action on the screen. It was the reaction of the 5 year old. Imagine, a 5 year sitting through a 2 hour movie with out having to go to the bathroom once or even bouncing about in the theater seat. Then on the ride home talking about the movie non stop. Disney has a hit!

I know the audience seemed to like this film but it really needed someone like Robert Downey Jr. to head up the cast. Franco is miscast and never seems to warm up to the part. The movie simply has little magic or charm. The only moments that rise to a level of charm are those with the china doll.
I liked the monkey but he looked like Red Buttons and if you don't know who he is, look him up.
