I hardly ever get to see movies so I choose wisely. This movie was much better than I expected. Love the action and the special affects. The story was complete and evolved the characters. I enjoyed the suspense and the surprises.

If you show aerial shots of NYC as if it were Gotham you should at least use street scenes and street signs consistent with NYC. And the dialogue was too muffled to understand in many instances..

I really enjoyed this movie. Nolan has the ability to combine a wild array of story elements and yet make it exciting and compelling. There's a section near the middle that I would have preferred to shorten a bit but then it picked up nicely and finished with a bang.

I've been a Batman fan since the 60's and this movie was tops in almost every area. The performances and story were great.
One thing that bothered me a lot was trying to hear dialog while the overwhelming Hans Zimmer score blared in the background. This was not Zimmer's fault, nor the fault of the actory... whoever had sound editing controls must already be deaf.
One easily loses the story in times like that.
Otherwise, I was completely entertained!!

Overall a brilliant and fitting end to Nolan's trilogy. There are a few things I could nitpick (a little bloat in characters and in the pacing of the middle act) but these things are minor by the time the film ends. The last 10 minutes are probably the best in the entire series.

I thought this movie was good overall, but at a 2 hour 45 minute length, it seemed to drag in parts....mostly the first hour or so of the movie. I think my overall expectation was higher mostly due to the fact that we were spoiled by the best character in some time in The Dark Knight (with Heath Ledger as the Joker). I thought the second Batman movie was perfect on all levels, and coming into this one, I was hoping they would set the bar a little higher since this was the last one (or really, is it?). I thought it was cool they brought things from the first Batman Begins (so watch the original first because it does relate to the first one quite a bit) but I thought Bane was just OK as a villian...he seemed to be the "big guy" with being one step ahead of the characters, and some of things done in the movie, but he seemed a little flat in comparison to the Joker. And Matthew Modine as the conflicted Commissioner Foley...I think they could have left his part out (being the wishy-washy, get Batman, then Batman is cool, role). The effects and action were cool; however, some of the fight scenes were a little rough, especially between Batman and Bane. Overall though it was a good ending to the trilogy...I just wonder if they should have done this movie as the second movie (of course, switch the endings) and then put the Joker in as the final part of the puzzle...maybe our expectations would not have been so high as mine were for this to go out with a huge bang!

The Dark Knight Rises is very long, and kind of slow at times, but a very beautifully executed story with amazing direction and great performances. It is thought provoking, inspiring and has the best conclusion I have seen in a long while. I would definitely recommend seeing it.

Chris Nolan has crafted a fitting conclusion to his Dark Knight trilogy. The movie is action packed with a solid story line and outstanding performances turned in across the cast. Indeed, I went in to the show with serious doubts about Anne Hathaway as Catwoman, but she was terrific! It is a shame that they could not do the same for Tom Hardy's portrayal of Bane. Hardy's performance is fine, but about 50% of his dialogue is rendered nearly unintelligible due to his mask. The result: Despite terrific acting the performance falls short of Heath Ledger's terrifying Joker in The Dark Knight. But all in all, this is a great summer movie that everyone--Batman aficionados or not--will enjoy!

I am fairly neutral on TDK trilogy. Begins was weak, but they needed a place to start from. Dark Knight was compelling with great dialog driven characters and action scenes. Dark Knight Rises is slow and filled with complex subplots that detracted from the action. The characters never developed and just seemed thrown together without any real motivation or reason to interact other than they were in the same room. Maybe the next reboot of Batman (in three years) will be better...I'm not holding my breath though.

Overall all The Dark Rises was a near prefect movie, but as a die hard Batman fan I was expecting the movie to be a little more intense like The Dark Knight. The ending to me was one of the only parts where my heart was really racing. Most of the middle of the movie was more laid back, Batman was just in jail and not really doing much. Dont get me wrong I left the theater feeling extremely thirlled and pumped up, even at 3am. This is probally just me but I would recommend not comparing it too mcuh to The Dark Knight.
A must see movie. Prefect acting, effects are awesome and a well directed conclusion to the Dark Knight trilogy.

This whole series has given Batman some depth to his character. A more human approach actually describing where Bruce Wayne actually got the way he is. This particular movie actually takes us in a reinventing yourself direction. How you get over your past to become a better person and still get the job done. It also shows the reaction of real life that if you don't use the talents that you are given you will loose them. Now thankfully Bruce doesn't actually loose his talent but in this instance he didn't actively work out after the Harvey two face incident in the second movie therefore showing the effect in this movie of the use it or loose it. I also like how the movie ends, at least for the most part. I didn't like the selling of the assets in the end but it was a logical direction. I did like how it was still set up so that there is a possibility of an additional movie if they wanted to do so.

It was almost a religious experience watching this movie.. Being a long time fan of all things Batman, all I can say is: God bless Christopher Nolan. What he has done with this trilogy should be taught to ALL directors. Even at almost 3 hours long, the movie kept me involved and excited through every scene. Those who have given negative reviews are just complaining for the sake of being different. This movie is a MUST see.

Okay, Yes: I am a Fan Boy. I was looking forward to this movie and have enjoyed the whole series. I liked it... sue me!!!
The only thing I was less than thrilled the dialogue that was lost in the mumbling of Bane or the background noise of the special effects.
Catwomen was good.

I was at the midnight viewing in Bellevue, NE. I totally enjoyed everything about the movie though the trajedy in Aurora has dulled alot of the excitement I originally had.
The movie itself was simply outstanding, drawing me in from the beginning, fairly realistic as far as a movie goes, and a nice twist with the revelation of the mercenary's child.
I hope in a week or two I'll attend Dark Knight Rises again with some friends and can regain the excitement, the enjoyment meanwhile remains.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors, new bat vehicle

I don't think that the Dark Knight Rises lived up to the hype. Is it worth seeing? Absolutely. Be prepared for a villain who needs subtitles. Not as scary when you are straining to comprehend what is coming out of his mouth cage. No villain will ever beat Heath Ledger as the joker in the Dark Knight. Overall a good film with a few surprises.

Director, writer, and producer Christopher Nolan reaches the epitome of artistic success in his third and final installment of his Dark Knight trilogy. One of the few filmmakers in Hollywood able to operate on a 250 million dollar budget while still possessing almost complete artistic control over his project, Nolan manages to craft a movie that is capable of appealing to both educated and uneducated moviegoers.
Taking place eight years after The Dark Knight (2008), Nolan uses dark, abstract camera strokes to paint Gotham City as a dystopic society on the brink of collapse.
Since accepting responsibility for the death of District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), billionaire orphan Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) has retired his alter ego of Batman and grown reclusive, rarely appearing publically. He has also grown increasingly cynical over the decaying nature of Gotham City and its inhabitants under what is known as the Dent Act.
A combination of events force Wayne out of reclusion including the mismanagement of his numerous assets to a curious jewel thief named Selena Kyle (Anne Hathaway). However, once a terrorist leader by the name of Bane (Tom Hardy) almost captures and kills Police Commissioner Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman), Wayne realizes that only Batman can save the city of Gotham.
Shot all over the world in 35 and 65mm Panavision cameras, Nolan managed to make a movie that manages to look more expensive than the 250 million dollar budget it was rumored to cost. Gotham City is particularly impressive looking, with parts of New York, Pittsburgh, and London giving the fictional metropolis a gritty, noir look. The urban landscape is grim as well and even daylight exterior scenes looked like they were shot through a gray color filter.
The Dark Knight Rises is possibly the most ambitious film in modern cinema. Beautifully detailed, full-scale sets were created for all of the interior shots but probably even more impressive are the exterior set pieces. The movie opens with a plane hijacking scene that was shot with stuntmen high in the air in Scotland. Later there is a scene that was shot in Pittsburgh’s Heinz Field, that was actually filled with 1000s of extras and had a field rigged with explosives. Finally, there is a largescale battle scene shot on Wallstreet that required over 10000 real extras. All of the scenes are shot masterfully and benefit greatly from being set pieces and not simply computer generated animation sequences.
Like most summer popcorn films, The Dark Knight Rises is very much a classic escapist tale of good versus evil. Nolan however tries to do more however, using Gotham as a metaphor for a real society that is willing to sacrifice it’s freedoms for a false sense of security. And what can happen to that society when it gives too much power to the wrong people.
The film is not without its flaws. The story, while simple, is weighed down with many characters and subplots that require viewers to follow very carefully or risk losing track of what is going on. The pacing is also quite deliberate and will feel long or drawn out to younger viewers.
Those few drawbacks are really quite minor however given the grand scope and ambition of the film. Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, and Michael Caine demonstrate why they are considered among the best actors of their generations. Actors such as Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Anne Hathaway also do well playing roles that are against typecast. The best words however must be saved for Tom Hardy, who in his portrayal of Bane, entered pop culture forever. With his mouth hidden by a mask through the entire film, Hardy conveys amazing range, all through a deep, frightening growl that will scare kids while making adults smile.
Pros well paced, great actors, scope & ambition, cinematography, overall production value
