The movie was a very interesting overview of all the events prior to and during Margaret Thatcher's time as UK Prime Minister. However, it was so upsetting watching her deal with dementia, and I left the movie feeling very sad. Meryl Streep gave her usual amazing performance. I would definitely recommend seeing this movie

I, as I'm sure many of you, heartily admire Meryl Streep's work and are familiar with her "becoming the character" to an amazing degree. If this is what you see the movie for, you will not be disappointed.
Her performance can take your breath away. The fifth star is for Streep playing Thatcher as a forgetful but exquisitely complex old woman.
But there is much more to this movie. I am thoroughly against Mrs.Thatcher's politics, but I greatly loved "The Iron Lady." Her character, her speeches through decades of great change in Britain and the world, and her family and home life are all here and powerfully charged. Charged with so many emotions, but never sentimental.
Brilliant movies are not sentimental.

The Iron Lady is a surprising present day look back by Maggie Thatcher on her life both public and personal at the same time. She seems to be a lady once known as very arrogant, strong and conservative who is now tormented by the loss of her husband and inability to let go of him. This is no salute to Maggie Thatcher and the content is strong given that she is still alive. It is a fitting farewell to a woman who led Great Britain for 11 years.Apart from the story line and irrespective of your politics, the acting by Meryl Streep is superb. She captures the strong Maggie Thatcher of the 80's and the very weak and almost pathetic Maggie Thatcher today. If you appreciate acting the way it used to be by Liz Taylor and Kate Hepburn, you should not miss this movie. It is an Academy Award performance. I am going to see it again.

DON’T WAIST YOUR MONEY! Meryl Streep, as an actress is superb no doubt about it. Why would she elect to run IN THE movie as the most hatred woman in the world? Uk Prime minister s monarchy poppet ruling to engage into oppress its people charging taxes over taxes to poor uk citizens bringing the uk to almost its collapse, much like obama in the US. Thought the movie was going to be about her screwed up political life rather it was about how the bitch gets old and senile. Worthless movie to watch.

streep is at the top of her game here, which is not an easy task considering the script from which she had to work. poorly written, uninformative, cheaply produced, this film is not a great representation of maggie. it is however, a great role for a truly great actress. someway, somehow, she will be robbed of yet another deserved oscar as there is no performance this year to compare. it is one thing to portray a character, but something else entirely when the actor becomes the person. she is in a class by herself. i give the movie 1 star but meryl gets 5, plus the other 4.

At last a movie that really shows what a truly great actress can do. Meryl Streep is amazing. She becomes Margaret Thatcher in such a convincing way that you think you are wathcing Margaret Thatcher her self. No blow up cars, just historical facts that are well portrayed by a truly great actress. Looks like an Oscar for Streep.

i would recommend this movie to a friend.
meryl streep was amazing, the story of margaret thatcher's life is incredible, the costuming and makeup were awesome. but the way the narrative is told through the reminiscing of a woman growing senile, detracts from the power of the story. for people who didn't live through a lot of that history, particularly, a more cogent, chronological re-telling would have enhanced the film
