I am not your typical Marvel comic moviegoer. But I found this movie extremely entertaining. I specifically enjoyed Tommy Lee Jones. He really added a punch. The special effects and 3D were captivating. Didn't know about the "surprise" at the end. Since I haven't seen the other Marvel comic movies, wasn't aware that they all have a teaser after the credits. Now I will go back and view the others before the new one comes out next year.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

As with all Marvel comic book characters, Captain America embodies all the characteristics that are admirable in a hero. Chris Evans played this part perfectly, NO EGO! The special effects were really, really good! There are a couple good surprises in this movie and I honestly felt riveted the whole time. My boys, 13 & 10 loved the action and story line. The special effects were really, really good and very believable. I loved the ending and look forward to the next Captain America!

With the glut of super hero movies taking over Hollywood and the summer, this is a good showing for a straight-up action movie. The relatively little use of a "superhero" costume makes this a really good action movie. As with all hero movies, I suspend my disbelief to allow the over-the-top escapes and close calls keep me in the movie. The fact that he's Captain America stops me from questioning how a thin, uncoordinated weakling all of a sudden has perfect aim and fighting moves. The movie constantly reinforces how Captain America is a good person and is fighting for what is right. Chris Evans does an excellent job of playing humble and earnest. It really helps you feel for the character and root for him to win. Overall, it's got good characters (Tony Stark AKA Iron Man's dad) and great action. I definitely recommend this movie for the summer!

Seems like these type of movies are getting better lately. I liked Thor and now this Captain America is also very well done. This movie has great sets and the acting is very good. Of course, there is LOTS of CGI, but well done in my perspective. I also have to take a moment to mention the villain Red Skull who was well acted and the makeup/mask was nicely portrayed.
Overall, I enjoyed it greatly and I think most people will. Plus it sets us up for a GREAT Avengers movie.

For me this movie started a lil slow but it has to show the history of Steve Rogers and of course how he becomes Captain America. I loved the acting, special effects & Chris Evans is a great all american hero. With the story of this lil guy from Brooklyn wanting to defend our Country -- who wouldn't love Captain America.. The movie was great ..although i was a lil tiny bit disappointed with the ending... but... can't wait for The Avengers.

A giant salute and a big thanks to director Joe Johnston for not falling into "the trap" of trying to make a superhero movie just like every other superhero movie. Captain America: The First Avenger is a near masterpiece in film-making regardless of the genre. Casting, acting, dialogue, editing, cinematography, pacing, script and musical score are all A-one! The Captain has been one of my favorite characters since I read the story of his return in Avengers #4 back in the early 60's. This patriotic film is a return to a more simple time and Johnston and his "howling film-makers" do an amazing job of creating magic on the screen - succeeding in transporting us to a 1940s World War II panorama. Recommend seeing CA:TFA in 2D as the 3D was added post-production and it does darken and wash out some of the detail. There are 3 scenes where the 3D is effective and one had me actually ducking my head - but overall it is not worth the negatives. A star-spangled, red, white & blue rhino horn way up."
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Most hero movies overlook the basic character traits of the heros, the exceptionality of their character, rather than merely their muscles or genius. With Captain America, his greatest power is his character. Comic books can have difficulty walking the fine line between good character and the sometimes necessary killing that must occur when fighting dark forces. Finally, hero movies writers and directors are showing the patience and reserve necessary to make you actually feel for the hero; to feel the humanity. In Steve Roger's case, to see the maturity, but still appreciate the naivitee; to love the determination, but believe in the goodness. In the comic books, the one consistent thing was that everyone, even if they didn't agree on other things, was ready to accept Captain America as a leader or unifier. That's a delicate balance to maintain in a movie. I really love this film, and look forward to owning it. I'd recommend this to all my friends.

I really enjoyed Captain America: The First Avenger. There were some great action sequences and the characters were pretty well developed.

I went into this movie hoping to enjoy whatever they came up with. I was thinking it was going to be over done and hokey but I was proved wrong on all levels. It was honest and well written. Chris Evans was awesome as Captain America and you can never go wrong with Stanley Tucci or Tommy Lee Jones. What a great cast and movie. The 3D was appreciated but not even needed. Definately will go to the theaters to see again!

Best 3D graphics so far! Loved this movie it was well made for the most part. Being a chick I could've used a bit more romance and a little more skin from Captain America. This is probably one of the best comic to movie adaptions out of the Marvel Universe yet. Effects, story, and action all had it going on. Was hoping I wouldn't have "Human Torch" flashbacks, and Chris Evans totally pulled off this great human being, and hero, as Steve Rogers. Was also great to feel some long lost Patriotic Pride missing from today's movies. Go Cap!

Pros:
Very good chemistry between the Carter and Rogers. Better than in Thor, Hulk and even Iron Man. Great acting.
Nice sets of '40's NY

Con:
Action scenes way underwhelming. See above 3 for better action scenes. Better emotional scenes in Thor than here.

Captain America: The First Avenger is probably the best Avenger of the bunch. The film has a good story, emotion, action, and good acting, especially by Chris Evans. The visual effects are done well, especially making a jacked Evans look skinny. It's one of those movies where the ending is its strong point, and that's definitely a good thing. This movie was one of the biggest surprises of the summer, and probably the best superhero movie of the year. Also, stay after the credits...
