Anderson never loses his core themes - young love, the need to escape, the bind and bluster of family. His "Kingdom" may not be large, but it is perfectly appointed. A sweetly kooky ode to the intensity of young love. The movie balances broad comedy with occasionally surreal quirk, while still holding the emotional center. It's funny, it's touching, it's Anderson doing what he does better than he's ever done before. A must see if you can find it in your area.

This was such a different movie especially considering Edward Norton & Bill Murray were both in it. We absolutely Loved it! We took our 20 year old and she enjoyed it a well. Great movie!

This is the type of movie that gives art fils/indie films a bad reputation. I love Edward Norton, Bruce Willis and Harvey Keitel, but they were all wasted in this film I should have known to stay away with Bill Murray in it; he was never funny and he certainly cannot act (think "Lost in Translation") I'll miss the FDR/King Edward movie because of him.
Do not waste your money even in a "dollar theater."

The way I described this movie to my mother is that it is kind of like Napoleon Dynamite: it is such a strange movie that you almost have to like it. Overall, I would say this movie is pretty good. Some of the situations in the movie are rather strange, but the acting and story line kept my attention throughout the whole movie. There are some situations in this movie that I would say are inappropriate for young children, hence the PG-13 rating. But, I would still recommend this movie to anyone.

Moonrise Kingdom is a sweet and quirky look at childhood from a not to distant past. Great Art Direction with a true vintage 60's feel. The film looks like an aged Instagram effect with Kodacolor. The acting and story are superb. It really brought me back to the style of my tween years. Tre Wes Anderson!

Moonrise Kingdom, although funny and lighthearted in many respects, treats the attachment that these two children have for one another with warmth and tenderness. In fact, the adults are also vulnerable and honest, too. Each person approaches their lives with the sincerety it needs, and no one dismisses these children. They're welfare is at the heart of the movie and the focal point of everyone in the cast. Shakespearean and Andersonian, at once.

As a Bill Murray fan I certainly expected to see more Bill Murray on the screen, but the story was captivating, enchanting and an artistic success. I almost felt like a summer novel I read as a young teen came to life, but reworked for adults. An honest, pure story brought to life. Definitely worth seeing and you'll leave the theater feeling good again.

Another great Wes Anderson movie. While all of the named cast (Willis, Murray, McDormand, Norton et.al) are excellent, it is the performances of Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward that make this such a wonderful film. Cinematographer Robert Yeoman's camera work was stunning and invovative, purposely flat and he proved himself to be in the company of Gunnar Fischer and Roger Deakins.

Love Love Love this film! I was 12 years old in 1965 and even had the same plaid book bag as Suzy. I still have a leaf and pearl broach very similar to Sam's, which was my mothers. Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward brought me back to that innocent time when one falls in love for the first time.

I have to say I wasnt born and raised in the USA so perhaps this is the reason hy this movie didnt talk to me at all. Great cadre of actors in essentially a low level teenager's comedy. Was boring and hen ended felt like a waste of time for me (and I rarely "break" in slow movies).

This is filmic story telling at its best. And the weaving together especially of Benjamin Britten's music with the story and spectacular cinematography is brilliant. I had first heard about this film about six months in advance and I was stoked! I loved his previous films, the royal teninbombs, life aquatica, and the darjing limited. All amazing films! Finally the film came out and there were. I showings in my city! Unbelievable! I was so disappointed I had been anticipating the release for this movie and what do you know? Not showing in my town. Well I sulked for a few weeks and then the movie came to Austin, but I didn't want to drive 1 hr to see a movie. Then just last night I learned the movie finally made its way here I bought tickets and was there in a flash. The movie was amazing! The dry humor, the acting, the story just awesome.
In short I loved this movie and would highly reccomend it to everyone.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors, great setting, dry humor

Very refreshing, the lack of violence, over the top special effects, explosions and cheesy dialogue made this movie a relexing, enjoyable experience.
