I really enjoyed this movie. I loved the constint twists. I think this is a very well writen script perfomed well by it's cast. Most of all I really liked Elizabeth Banks as the negotiator. I can not really say the same for Genesis Rodriguez. Genesis is a very attractive lady but I think her part was over done. I would have to say I would recommend this movie so please do yourself a favor and go see it.

Man on a Ledge starts off with a speck of promise and the seeds of a potentially interesting action/suspense drama. It goes downhill from there as director Leth kills the movie with sloppy editing and lackluster direction. The actors all do an okay job ... they just don't have anything much to work with. A ho-hum musical score, below par dialogue, sub-par editing and average cinematography all add up to a "save your movie money rhino horn down".

This movie fits squarely in the category of "enjoyable entertainment," but not excellent entertainment. As has been noted in other reviews, some of the gaps in the script and its believability are the size of Central Park, but the movie delivers as fun escapism. At times the acting is weak and the characters become parodies of themselves (Ed Harris is unusually lame in his role), but if you accept this as surface-level entertainment, and don't expect Academy Award-level acting, it is a fun movie.

The movie is fast paced and totally stupid. There is some mild excitement and a bit of action. "Man on a Ledge" is about Family Loyality, Corrupt Police, Greed and Revenge.

The acting was enjoyable, cinematography compelling and the film was well-directed overall. However, the storyline and script were predictable and filled with implausabilities (Is a high-tech heist theif really going to have hair flowing around the shoulders and huge earrings that could get caught-up? ::::::SPOILER ALERT::::::: Is a Governor pardon so seamless and easy to come by?). Those type of things made it hard to buy overall. As heist movies go, this was far less compelling than Heist, Heat or The Usual Suspects were deeper character complexities and motivation are beautifully displayed.

It's important to care about a character when you're watching a movie and I cared about this guy. He was set up by a bunch of crooked cops and a filthy rich guy who owns a lot of NY real estate. He manages to escape from the authorities at his father's funeral and stages a caper that includes stealing a $40,000,000 diamond that he was accused of stealing before, proving that the rich guy still has it. His friends and family are behind him and they have to go up against some angry crooked cops and the rich guy. What fun! And it plays really well, sort of like Mission Impossible with an story you can understand.

"Man on a Ledge" doesn't aim high, but what it aims to do, it does. This is basically an audience participation movie in which you go along for the ride, knowing that everything will work out just fine; good will triumph and evil will get its comeuppance. Man on a Ledge is the kind of movie where you need to check your brain at the door and enjoy a brief respite from reality. The actual plot is ludicrous, as are the stunts, but the execution of it all is fun enough to watch and make it a must see.
