A beautiful and sensitive portrayal of an amazing man. He is a legend already.
And my god...you will never look at your mediocre "sushi" in some anonymous, silly neighborhood, in quite the same way.

You will love this movie if you are any of the following:
-a creature of habit;
-a sushi lover;
-someone who loves the Food Network;
-a business student;
-an artist;
-a chef;
-someone looking to start a business, particularly a restaurant business;
-a student of Japanese culture; or,
-an avid moviegoer.
This is a movie about an 85-year old man who is quite possibly the greatest sushi chef on the planet. He has polished his craft to such a degree that it's as close to perfection as possible. His restaurant has a 1-month waiting list for reservations and he puts his apprentices through a 10-year training curriculum prior to considering them fully trained. His goal is simple: do the best possible job...and do that every day for the rest of your life. This is a great movie and you will be mesmerized by the story and everything you see, which includes monster close-ups of the best sushi imaginable.

It's a movie about one's man mission for excellence at work. It is also about each of our missions in our lives. Jiro was unbending about doing the very best sushi for his customers. We could all gain by performing even just at half his dedication.
The film however gets a little dry repeating the same message several different ways. It feel a bit too much like a documentary.
Nevertheless, it is absolutely worth your time.
