We laughed alot....but parts of the seemed slow and boring, although the acting was above average. Take your mom with you to see this one, it did have a great story.

I had higher expectations for this movie. Yes, Streisand and Rogen were well cast as mother and son, and there were some laughs along the way, but overall I thought the storyline was weak and predictable. Thankfully, it didn't run long. I enjoyed it to a point, but after awhile, the story no longer interested me and the laughs didn't come as easily. I would recommend it with reservations. Better to rent it than to spend the bucks.

I enjoyed this movie very much. Barbra Streisand is a great comedic actor, as is Seth Rogen. Lots of fun and laughs!

This is a clever film with plenty of laughs if you are the mother of a child from their late teens into their thirties, or if you are that child! For anyone else, including the dads, you probably will not think it is nearly as funny. The females, of all ages, in the audience seemed to really get a lot of laughs from the all too familiar mother-child relationship ups and downs.
The script and acting are first rate, but as stated, unless you are very familiar with how moms and their off-spring play off each other, you may want to watch this one when it's free on tv.
Pros well paced, great story, realistically humorous

This movie had more depth than I thought it would. I enjoyed it very much; never got bored, laughed out loud. The acting is EXCELLENT! I was pleasantly surprised by the direction of the story line. This is a very very good movie. Even though there were a few swear words, they happened infrequently, which was refreshing!

The movie is directed more towards moms that are widowed and have plenty of time to do just about anything they want in life. Also a mom that has only one son and he lives across the country.

After watching trailers for a month everywhere they could broadcast them, I had to see this movie. Truth be told, Barbra Streisand is a legend and she loses none of her luster here. She is adorable and a good actress. Rogen's role could have been played by anyone: he brings nothing to it. My real problem with the movie though is that it is just plain dull. The dialogue is uninspiring and the story is predictable and trite. The first 2/3 of the movie is really just the two of them on screen and, while the chemistry is decent, they could use more characters. The element that drives the plot (I won't spoil it here out of respect for those Barbra-lovers who will see this) is contrived at best. There are several scenes that just don't work: the characters are not true to who they are in those scenes or you have to suspend your disbelief farther than ever would be comfortable. I was looking for something like the Deniro movie Midnight Run which sets the standard IMO for travelin' buddy movies. This was nowhere close to that. The movie is neither exciting nor sexy, and it is barely funny.
