This film starts out promising, but loses its way halfway thought in which it basically becomes the Transformers. At that point, the film relies less on story and more on back and forth fighting special EFX which quite frankly look more like something on a Playstation than a hollywood blockbuster. Bring earplugs as a lot of these scenes rely on loud sound effects and after 3/4 of the film you are truly exhausted from having to endure it. One thing that I couldn't help but notice is the scenes of planes going into Metropolis/Manhattan buildings and then having them collapse on people who are just standing there gaping mouthed. If the filmmakers were going to be so insensitive about 9/11, then at least get it right and show what really happens when planes go into buildings that end up falling on people. At 2 hours, the film starts to desperately try and wrap itself up to finish at which point the cast start to finish each other's sentences about how the strategy to defeat the enemy will work as if all of a sudden they are experts on worm holes and the inner workings of alien spacecraft from Krypton. After wasting half of the movie's runtime on the said video game fighting filler, the bad guy is finished off with a simple sleeper hold (oh gee, why didn't I think of this 90 minutes into the story?). No great finish here.

Cons like dragging a tractor tire through the desert

This movie went ON AND ON AND ON... Way too much Sci-Fi for me, and it seemed as if the battles never stopped. My ears are still ringing 24 hours later. Basic Superman story embellished with an overkill of alien garbage, perhaps to appeal to the younger crowd. Have we run out of ways to make movies about this superhero? It would seem so. Not so sure Superman purists will like this one. Cut 30 minutes, lose half of the Sci-Fi stuff, focus more on who Superman is and less on how many things the aliens can destroy, and this movie might make 3.5 stars. Very disappointing.

Man of steel edoes not follow the comic book stories exactly. There is a lot of focus on Crypton which is not really discussed in the comic book. I was very excited to see how this old story has a new story. This is a must see!

They spared no expenses when it came to actors! It was obvious Cavill took this role serious! As per reviews he was not only going through the rigorous schedule as an actor, but working out to solidify the iconic image if Superman The storyline mixed with action kept your attention throughout the movie. I have seen every Superman movie ever made. This one is my favorite hands down. I really liked the way the story ran by getting into the meat of the story and relied upon flashbacks to give you the background. This made for a much more enjoyable movie than previous movies which spend a lot of time setting up the story which tends to get you bored before the story ever gets going.

Other than the cool art nouveau Krypton machinery, and a very handsome superman, everything else is forgettable. Amazing actors who felt lost in a mindless script. Terrible dialogue. Poor comedy. Boring fight scenes. Sanitized romance.

Love how the story was told. Not really familiar with comic story lines vs television and movie adaptations, but I really liked how the origination of Superman was presented in " Man of Steel". When movie ended, my husband asked, "Do you want to stay and see it again?" Thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Theater occupants were clapping at the end! Always a good sign. Can't wait for a sequel.

I grew up with Christopher Reeve as Superman, he was the best at that time.
However this new telling and revamped version is spot on. The new suit, the storyline with flashbacks, etc. is excellent.
Was not sure about Cavill as lead role, but I think he nailed it.
Enjoy!!
Pros well paced, great story, great actors

Love the story and action. Great improvement on Superman's suit ( no red jockeys, hooray!). Only comment, the end fight was dragged.

This movie is pretty good. It is close to the comics certain storylines in the comics. Henry Cavill does a nice job of Superman. I would recommend however don't expect it to be like the original Reeve version.

Man of Steel was an awesome movie,but not as good as Iron Man 3,My 5 yo son help rate this movie because he acts out all super heroes.We think even though the action was excellent Iron Man 3 was better.Man of Steel went back and forth to much.

Surprised I finished it..dragged on and on. More of an Alien movie than a superhero movie. What did I just watch? Take elements of Independence day mix it with fight sequences of the matrix revolutions..drag it out for what seems like 4 hours and call it superman. Seriously? I waited for a year to see THIS!? There is no heart/warmth..NO humor. No real character development. This is not a superman movie its a long boring sci fi disaster...end of story.
Cons bad acting, slow, too long, lame
No, I do not recommend this movie.
