Easily the best Superman release. Combined the stories of the original 2 movies with better characters and a tremendous cast. Scenes and action were fast paced, so the 2.5 hours seemed to go by fairly quickly. This is an excellent movie if you are a Superman fan. This is a fun, action movie if you are just a casual fan. Eagerly awaiting the sequel.

Loved the movie but the hand held camera drove my son nuts. I must admit at times it made it difficult to focus.
However, the overall movie was excellent and surprised me in spots with a great and unexpected story.

The writers didn't stick with Superman canon. He is NOT supposed to kill. The idea of Superman finding a unique way of dealing with a situation, no matter how bad it is, is the underlying tone of the legend. Killing Zod was not the right way. The fact that Jonathon died in a hurricane, is another wrong way turn. These so called writers decide what is right and what is their version doesn't make this move any less better, but Christopher Reeve is the one and only Superman. There was a lot of gratuitous destruction for destruction's sake. Like the Avengers, Manhattan has been destroyed so many times, that it should be considered a war zone and left for dead. Over the top destruction. It was long as well....

I loved the background story of how Superman came to be as well as the symbol and suit. I think the casting director did an amazing job picking the roles of every actor from major roles to supporting cast. Everyone seemed to fit perfectly. The action and story line kept your attention and made you really want to cheer for the good guys. Loved this movie.

Took my kids to see this movie, they liked it more than the adults because it had the feel of a Transformers movie with all the up close fight scenes. Plot was hard for them to follow since it used many flashbacks to show young Clark Kent and how he got his morality. Lois Lane was very unrealistic, like sneaking into the ship when it was 40 below outside or being invited on the bombing run. Over all too many gadgets to keep the crowd interested instead of just a good story... Oh and how many people were presumed killed in Metropolis with all the destruction...

While the movie is no "Dark Knight", the story is a good story for the first installment of a prospective series. Camera work and cinematography is tight and refined. effects are amazing. the cast is great. the story hops back and forth between present and past, but is a good story, heightened by a solid story from Nolan/Goyer and possibly the best movie score of the year by Hans Zimmer.

"Man of Steel" was a respectful, yet modern retelling of the Superman myth. Henry Cavill is an incredibly beautiful man and just about perfect for the role. He portrays and delivers a certain innocence and goodness that is essential to the character. Amy Adams rocks Lois Lane, Russell Crowe is outstanding as Jor El (Superman's Kryptonian dad) and Kevin Costner and Diane Lane are pitch perfect as John and Martha Kent (Superman's adopted parents). The remainder of the cast is solid as well with Michael Shannon doing a fantastic job as General Zod. I also loved the peek into life on Krypton. I think this is the first time that I ever got the sense that Superman came from a really *alien* place. Great job all around (I thought the fight scenes could have used a little more judicious editing) and I recommend it highly to fans and moviegoers alike.

I found "Man of Steel" brilliant. A different spin and a very unique story line. From a pool of brilliant actors Mr. Henry stood out. He of course had a beautiful woman on his side that complement his work. Unfortunately the production was so poorly done that it was disappointing. Hand held cameras in some face to face combat made you loose the details. To many and too fake is the only thing I can think of for the explosions and the special effects. Good grief those fires at the end of the movie looked so fake it was insane. If you are looking for a good "blow up stuff" experience this is not it. But if you want a great story with brilliant actors "Man of Steel" is your best bet.
