Great movie. Watch it without reminiscing about Christopher Reeves, because in reality nothing will ever be as heartwarming as Lois's monologue in the original Superman and Christopher Reeves' Clark Kent portrayal. This is a different movie for a different time, and it is about time! I am not a hardcore Superman fan, but I have always followed Batman and a lot of other comics. I am such a Batman fan, that I was critical of Batman Begins at first, and I am still trying to digest the last one. As far as movies and entertainment are concerned though, The Man of Steel has everything you want, just make sure you pick a theater with good, comfortable seats, because at 2 hours and 20some minutes of runtime it will make your butt take notice, which I will admit, went by fast enough, yet I felt the 2 1/2 hours that I sat in the theater once it was time to get up. Thankfully we went to a great place at the Houston Palladium. If WB wanted a reboot for good old Superman, it will be hard to do better than this without going campy and rehashing everything that has already been done. This is a noble beginning to the DC Universe on film, and even though there may be gripes in the story and events that happen at the end, it was a great, action-packed, BOOMING, movie. You owe it to yourself to go see this in a good theater.

Let me start by saying I did like this movie ... BUT it seemed more about Krypton than it was about Superman. It was the story of Krypton and it's politics, players, and destruction. It was about the effort to save it's culture and one day build a new Krypton. The Superman character was more of a subset or side effect of THAT storyline (which I did not like that much). Clark learning the truth about himself and becoming Superman seemed far too rushed (and something he accepted way to easily). So many special effects and fast moving camera work that is was dizzying at times. They could have slowed down the non-stop action and special effects a bit and concentrated more on the story of Clark and less on the story of Krypton (but they did develop Clark too, don't get me wrong). Definintely worth seeing ... and worthy of a sequel. Henry Cavill did a good job and this was a much better version of Louis Lane then in past movies (in my opinion).

Henry Cavill's portrayal of the Kryptonian American hero captured the essence of Jor-El's famous admonition to his son; that he would be different and may feel isolated. Not to mention he made being virtuous sexy again. Superman has been and always will be my favorite super hero and I left the theater satisfied and wanting to come back for more. It was a stark contrast from the previous Superman reboot which left me hollow and admittedly disappointed, especially because I was excitedly rooting for Brandon Routh to capture my imagination. I would trust Zack Snyder with Superman's subtleties for the rest of eternity. Amy Adams is also stunning as Lois Lane and transformed the character into a more capable, yet believable heroine, rather than a damsel in distress. I took the Man of Steel experience with the cinema's Dbox option, which jostled me about through every crash and swoosh of the action. I completely and unequivocally recommend this film and hoping and waiting to soar with the franchise's future films to come!

The movie was awsome. I liked the was they touched on what he did as a child a little. Plus what he did as a young man. I also liked the story of how Gen Zod found him, but what I didn't like was Superman's Dad didn't try tp kill Zod, when they both had the chance. During the fight or after Zod stabbded supmarman's Dad. the Mom was on the floor where he had dropped the gun. Also, why did superman tell Zod how to adapt to Earth's climate. But overall, I loved the movie.

This movie was a hour too long and the camera work was awful. It was very shaky and I had a headache by the end of the 2.5 hours. Not worth the price I paid. Superman isn't supposed to kill anyone.

While many say that this movie followed in the footsteps of Iron Man, Batman Begins, Thor, and others, and had too much action and effects, it interwove the basics of the original comic story along with some liberties to bring the plot into the realm of making the reboot much more inviting and alluring for a hungry crowd looking for a more in-tune man of steel. The portrayal of an exotic Krypton was intriguing, and explanations, while not deep, led audiences along so that the storyline didn't get lost. Critics looked to nitpick at things such as the pterodactyl creature -- overlooking its use in light of the machinery being overtaken -- and come across as seeking points to complain about, rather than review the movie itself. While the action toward the end was overdrawn, where it could have been lessened to allow more character development, it was an effects achievement. Still, it was dizzying, and too many buildings blowing up can become tedious. However, overall, this movie, in my opinion, made the Man of Steel cool and real once again, so bring on the sequels!

From the female "not in to these kinds of movies" perspective, I really enjoyed it. On the downside, the soundtrack was played way too loud. It actually hurt! I liked seeing the pre story and post story, and liked what they did with the middle as well. In my opinion, there was far too much computer graphics that made it incredibly unrealistic. It was a fun movie to watch regardless and completely action packed.

The movie's story was really poorly put together and then very Hollywood in it's convenience of putting stars together and in scenes they have no business being in. It's as if someone wanted to be ambitious and build a story from the beginning and the money men said we need action and explosions and romance and and and; they caved and tried to do everything at once. This doesn't hold a candle to Batman Begins. Such a shame, it really could have been great too.

The studio finally got it right. I am a fan of the Superman Comic. I have been thoroughtly disappointed with previous attempts at the movie. The last great Superman movie was when Christpher Reeves played Superman and battled Zod.This time, the story, the characters and the ocassional comedic one liners made this a great movie. We left the movie thoroughly impressed. Man of Steel is better than Iron Man 3 and we are huge fans of the Iron Man Trilogy.
Hint for the studios, if you are going to make another Man of Steel movie, please do not have the villain be Lex Luther. Superman needs to battle larger than life, extra-terrestrail villains...Darkside for example or some of the others super villains he has fought. Battling a human is just plain lame! That is some free friendly market advice and guidance from an avid movie goer.
Go see this movie you will enjoy it. Seeing this movie was money well spent.

I didn't have super high expectations for this film, but I REALLY did want to like it. However, that just didn't happen.
I feel like it could have been a half hour shorter, and some of the fight scenes could have been cut down and replaced with more plot, and this would have been so much better.
Some of the acting was cheesy and melodramatic, and not in an amusing we're-trying-to-be-cheesy way. It was a little much.
The special effects were pretty good, and Henry Cavill is a beautiful, beautiful man. So, that was nice.
Overall, probably wouldn't watch the film a second time, which makes me really sad.

Bombastic, stilted, poor dialogue, uncompelling and laughably wooden hero... The effects are good, yes, but here the naysayers turned out right. A very poor example of the new action-bludegoning tentpole. The original Superman is Fellini compared to this sort of crud. Don't get it twisted--superhero movies can be great--Spiderman 2, Dark Knight, X-Men: Last Stand, whatever. This is more like Transformers, though. Total onslaught of meaningless destruction and a script that begs to win a Razzie, though it won't.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Best Superman yet. I am a big fan of Superman and this movie did not disappoint. Action packed with unbelievable sci-fi. Loved it.

We took our 4 kids to see this at Harkins Northfield on the Cine-Capri screen. I was a little worried about how long the movie was, but the kids were on the edge of their seat the whole movie. I would highly recommend it!

This movie was a surprise for me. I expected it to be over the top and loaded with explosive special effects. I also expected a sugary sweet love story. Instead of the standard movie catalog, I saw a movie with an opaque background and characters with realistic reactions to situations. Superman was a loner who struggled with doing the right thing. The supporting characters helped flesh his personality out further rather than giving us their own storyline. And the special effects were fantastic, but not too much. Michael Shannon as Zod is fantastic and steals the show with his passionate, angry performance. I am surprised to have sat through this movie quietly (cause I'm a talker) and simply enjoyed the experience.

Novel try at rebooting the franchise, but "borrowing" elements from other movies...not cool. There are so many effects we have seen here already in other franchises, it almost makes Man of Steel...unoriginal. Sorry to say but the story was choppy, with bad flow and editing. There are only a few glimpses of his childhood, which you probably have already seen in the preview trailers. The "romance" between Lois and Superman? What romance? We go from handshake to kissing..literally. And WHY is Manhattan yet again demolished to bits..? Above all though, Superman is NOT SUPPOSED TO KILL. That did it for me. He always, ALWAYS finds a way to avoid killing, but in Man of Steel, he very blatantly kills, resembling the "bad" Superman image from Superman 3. What saves this movie is some of the effects and of course Henry Cavill, who is really great. Finally let me say that the whole movie had a very dark, evil tone. Superman is supposed to give you a "feed good" mood when the movie ends...this reboot didn't do that.

Henry Caville is by far the best Superman ever cast. I love how he isn't portrayed as a silly doofus. And love that Lois is no wilting flower! Excellent special effects, great villains!
