Movie was good but I think it lacked some of the magic of the original Superman with Christopher Reeves. Still it was very good and the special effects were spectacular. I think Henry Cavill is a good superman. The only problem is that the story dragged on a bit. Also it would have been nice if Kevin Costner had more screen time than he did and more was shown of Superman as a child growing up in Kansas as he discovered his gifts.

I was eager to see the Man of Steel but very disappointed with the story line and total presentation. If something is not broke you can't fix it. The story was was completely different from the original Superman, there was no music from the orginal superman, and the movie became repetative on the fight scenes. The cast of the movies starred some of my favorite actors: Diane Lane, Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Christopher Meloni, and Laurence Fishburne. They are some of the best actors in the industry today but their story lines were horrible. It reminds me how Hollywood took Elvis Presley and gave him pathetic roles. Great Actors but a very poor choice from the witers and directors on the story line.

All the build up for it left me to expect something beliveable, but it was not so. All the memories of the comic books, old movies, and cartoons of Superman was destroyed in this movie. Too much far fetched ideas that are stupid and silly.

I don't understand why the movie only has 4.2 stars; I thought it was much more deserving. I feel it's action-packed and the dialogue is not cheesy or AS cheesy as many other super hero movies. I've seen it twice. Overall, I would definitely recommend that you see it!

This movie gets a 10 out of 10 from me. The first 10 I’ve seen in a very long time.
I love Superman. And I love everything about this movie. The acting, the story, the visual effects, everything down to the WAY they filmed it is fantastic.
I know a lot of people are saying it’s not funny, or light, or romantic like pervious movies. But if the world was coming to an end, would you be laughing about its destruction?
I applaud the creators for making it real instead a cheesy caricature of life.

My most anticipated movie of the summer did not disappoint. “Man of Steel” packs a strong punch. I look forward to seeing it a second time. My first viewing was in IMAX 3D and I have to say that I do not think 3D really contributed much to this film. To my knowledge this movie was post-converted into 3D. I was able to track things on screen but there is a lot of fast paced action where your eyes may not be able to keep up. I saw it again in 2D and the film was much more enjoyable. The sound and the visuals themselves were quite good though so I do recommend seeing it in a theater with quality surround sound and/or digital projection.
There is a lengthy but exciting prologue to start things off. Afterwards the film does settle down a bit showing Clark as a boy, teenager, and as a man in various situations as he struggles to figure out his place in the world. The second act did drag a little bit but that may have been due to how tired I was when I saw the movie. When I saw the movie the second time in 2D I did not notice this. By the third act once things get going they keep going.
Henry Cavill had a firm grasp on the character and with the help of a strong supporting cast the acting in the film is quite good. Secondary characters do suffer a little in the development area since most of the focus is on Cavill. In many regards the supporting cast is mostly filling archetype roles but there are instances where each one does bring a little more to their roles. Particularly good in a supporting role was Antje Traue who played General Zod’s Lieutenant, Faora. Amy Adams was a vast improvement in the role of Lois Lane over many previous incarnations and I really believed her in the role. I also appreciated Michael Shannon in the role of Zod and thought he did a great job. His whole arc in the film was handled well and he is the second most developed character in the movie.
Hollywood seems to feel that everything needs to be dark and gritty these days so there is that influence in the film. That there are consequences to what is happening is where this paid off for me. It was clear that people were sacrificing their lives and collateral damage was significant. Superman himself seems to struggle both mentally and physically. The actions that he takes and the decisions that he makes are not always easy. The core of the character is there though; that which has always drawn me to him. That he will always do the right thing even if it is a hard choice. That he will never give up even when he faces something stronger than himself.
Easily in my top two films of the summer so far only “Star Trek Into Darkness” ranks higher. This is likely because Star Trek did offer more humor and character development with steady action. “Man of Steel” by comparison was almost devoid of lighter moments.

The beginning is awesome and gives a better context to the origin and characters which gave birth to Superman. But then we skip his development and how he grew up in Kansas as a "normal kid." We fly through his character development which makes you fall in love with him and root for him in the movies. The bad guys specifically the bad girl fought better than Superman and almost had you cheering their coolness on. I never cheered for Superman and he seemed to need help all the time from Lois Lane and the soldiers in order to beat General Zod and his soldiers. Not good kinda lame also not in character how he killed Zod. Good movie just good.

Overall, this was a solid Superman story. Yes, the graphics were fantastic and yes, there was quite a lot of action (maybe a little tedious toward the end)...but I still found myself exclaiming "wow!" throughout.
The buildup through flashback backstory was great, believable and well-acted. Diane Lane and Kevin Costner were understated and strong. Exactly as Clark's parents were in the comics. I felt Clark's struggle and the foundation of his upbringing that really helped form the rest of the story.
Cavill was great, handsome, believable, and has absolutely captured the Superman character in a new way. I felt his humility and power.
My only complaints were the occasional corny lines/quips that were obviously meant for comic effect but felt flat, and Amy Adams as Lois Lane. She was a weak link and brought none of the presence and spice that Margot Kidder had way back.
The action sequences were long, but probably fairly realistic if you consider who's fighting. Leveling a city is gonna be pretty damned violent.
Solid reboot, looking forward to more.

Interesting story, lots of action and great special effects. I really thought this was more of a humans and aliens scifi movie than a superhero film. I really liked it. I think it is a great foundation to start a new story line and am looking forward to more!!

I loved the movie and am going tonight to watch it again. Be prepared for lots of action. It takes Superman some time to fully realize both his full strength and love for earth and its people; so the action scenes at the end of the movie are long and intense and tell the story this realization.

My husband and I went into this movie not sure of what to expect. Hubs is an avid Superman (Christopher Reeves) fan and I wasn't sure if he'd like it. He absolutely loved it and so did I! We definitely want to go see it again and will be adding this to our DVD/BluRay collection.

If it wasn't for the overlong, ultraviolent and gratuitous action scenes, this movie might have been truly great. As it is there were a few too many, and they were all much longer than they needed to be. The dialogue was clunky at times, as well.

My family and I drove ~100 miles to see it at the Harkins theatre in Tempe, AZ. 70'x30' Screen with Dolby ATMOS sound! I've been reading Superman comics since the early 1970s, I saw Superman: The Movie in the theater when I was kid...
My verdict: L-O-V-E-D it!!
I got choked up in parts, got tense during some scenes, cheered at the fight scenes, was tickled by the comic book nods, and was in awe of the spectacle of it all. I was so impressed by all the actors. And there were some great lessons for fathers about loving and believing in your kids. I also appreciated the respect the movie had for people of faith and the theme of man's need for redemption.

With all the hype I expected much more than I got. Up until Clark found his biological father was boring. The fight scenes were so ridiculously unreal looking that it was not enjoyable.

I was super excited to see Man of Steel, until I saw Man of Steel. I think the producers should not let the interns write the story line next time..... I've never been to a movie where the story line jumps a time line so bad or so obvious. I gave it 4 stars overall because it was entertaining and the special effects were amazing. The plot, well, it's not any different than the other Superman movies, so don't wait for any surprises. It's good, but not what I expected. :(
