This is definitely a hype and cult movie. I did enjoy it and it was good to see, but I actually expected a little more after it making such a huge number. I am not a follower of this book series so I had no expectations of what it should be like. This is basically a kid surviving the game with a better packaging and story line. Honestly, I thought John Carter was even better than this, but of course, I expected that to stink and this to be insanely great.

I haven't read the book yet. And I really wasn't planning on seeing the film. It was the weekend box-office which got my attention. This, and the amazing fact that no big named actor was headlining this apparent blockbuster!
Now how could a film based off of a Johnny-Come-Lately novel exceed “John Carter” five times? Simple. Targeting the right audience. Thanks to the film adaptations of "Twilight" and "Harry Potter", Hollywood is an old hand at dishing out what the teen public want to see. And that’s seeing themselves on the big screen!
Jennifer Lawrence is one tough cookie! She holds her own against such great actresses as Sigourney Weaver. Not to mention the stellar supporting cast which make this movie complete!
Cinematically, the action, drama, and romance are weaved together with mastery, without excessive special effects distracting from the core story.
I was pleasantly reminded of the Japanese manga series "Battle Royale", which tells the tale of a class of junior high school students who are forced to fight each other to the death. Not the most uplifting subject matter. And not the best material for youngsters. But "The Hunger Games" does reflect the grim reality many youth face due to competition and even racial conflicts amongst each other.
This ain’t no Disney family film. But it’s definitely worth seeing!

This movie, while it did not go by the book 100 percent, it did stay remarkably true. I was more satisfied with the movie than i expected to be. The cast was perfect. Where a character fell short in physical appearance, each made up for it with acting skills. Many may pick this apart scene by scene, but altogether, this was an absolutely impeccable movie.

I absolutely loved it! It followed the book really well, although it did changed a few minor things. For those of you saying it sucked, I have no idea what you're talking about. I saw it twice within 12 hours and I loved it both times. I could probably watch this movie every day for the rest of my life and never get tired of it. Even if you haven't read the books, you should definitely see this! The acting was absolutely amazing and it was cast really well. Plus, Peeta and Cato are super hott!!!!

It had a few small alterations from the book, but compared to any other book to movie I have seen The Hunger Games was by far the closest in comparison. It made me a little dizzy and I was seated in the middle section of the theater. Very down to the detail I'd say though.

This movie was great. I have read all three books and the actors cast are very much like I imagined the characters to be. I heard some people say they didn't like the "changes". They didn't really change much, if anything, they just cut things out. It's a movie and of course they couldn't put everything in. It was fantastic and I will see it again in theaters. Team PEETA!!

This movie was action packed and entertaining. They did a great job taking this from the book to a movie. The actors all added their own flavor and personality to everything without stepping out of character. But, it seemed like some of the messages and meanings got lost in all the action.

I was so excited to see the Hunger Games movie after reading the series that I dragged my husband with me even though he is not a person that enjoys going to movies. We both enjoyed the Hunger Games, not only does it have the action scenes that some guys will look for but it also has the great story line to follow. I am recommending this movie to all my friends. A great story for those who like to root for the underdog!

Yes, overall it was beautifully done. Good acting, great makeup, good CG, and as close to the book as you can make a < 2 hour movie. Having said that, the people around me who hadn't read the book were gasping at all the right places, and those of us who had read the book, knew what was going to happen next so not as surprised or excited. One of the best parts of the book was not knowing what to expect. It started out a little slow, and I kept thinking, wow this is a long movie. It was a good 2/3 into it before the games started. But overall it was great fun, and worth seeing.

awesome movie. can't wait to buy the books and for the next movie to come out. I loved the Twilight Series but I think I am going to like this even more, if the next movie lives up to the first. Awesome, Awesome movie.

I really thought they did a great job adapting it from the book. Yes they changed some things but nothing major. I also thought the cast did a great job. I do think having read the book made the movie even better.

This is the first film I've seen after I've read the book first and let me just say I am very pleased, happy, satisfied with the film. There were changes but I didn't mind them. The film was amazing, beyond amazing and I am looking forward to seeing again and again until it comes out on DVD.

I have not read the books & enjoyed the movie. We took our 12 & 13yr old boys they enjoyed it. My husband hated the movie. I thought that it was filmed well showing little violence w/kids killing kids. I liked the idea of a "Strong Woman". I recommend seeing it.

I saw The Hunger Games with my husband and our 2 oldest children age 13 and 11. We have all read the books and were so excited to see the movie and it did not disappoint. It was done very tastefully given the content of the book and left us all wanting more.

An excellent film for fans of the books or even if you aren't. I saw the movie with my sister, a friend and my mother and only two of us had read the books but the two who hadn't could easily follow along and understand the plot and enjoyed the film too. I loved that it stayed more or less as true to the books as possible! This is a must see for any movie or book lover.

Follows the book fairly closely only with a somewhat condensed timeline. History leading up to Hunger Games is told in few sentences and assumes that viewers have read the book and know the back-story in most spots. Katniss, Haymitch, President Snow, Flickerman, Trinket and Cinna are well cast. Peeta is only okay, nothing to crow about. Other characters are basically wooden cut-outs, particularly Gale, Mom, Primrose. Characters of the other tributes are not at all developed (with slight exception of Rue) and are little more than human targets. The stylists also have little more than a line or two. Overall, well done but don't expect anything not in the book.

This movie is a must see. if you have not read the books you will still be able to follow the story. Of all the book-to-movie showings this one by far is the best to deliver! Most things are accurate (Although Haymitch could have been a little more convincing). Come one..come all and enjoy the feast

My son got us intrested in seeing this movie, it's the craze at his age right now. 1st the books and hope to see two more films from the other books. Cast was perfect to play the characters. Some new faces for me. Story line kept me involved and at the edge.I'll have to read the books as I did with Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter.

Read the books long ago, and had to re-read for the movie! Movie wasn't a disappointment at all! Jennifer Lawrence DELIVERS as Katniss and the cast did a great job at developing the characters. Fully anticipate the release of the next movies :)

I have to say that I was really impressed with The Hunger Games. I'm currently reading the third book and would highly recommend anyone to read and watch it. Of course things were changed but hey a movie can only be so long. All in all I walked away feeling good about it.

Like many top-tier action movies, this was well done and ultimately good entertainment that was worth the price of admission and the evening out, but it doesn't really reach beyond the realm of entertaining action film and make us think more broadly about the themes (whatever they were supposed to be). Jennifer Lawrence is terrific, and her career should expand into other projects that will provide even better opportunities to showcase her talents. I haven't read these books, so I don't have any previous experience or familiarity with the story -- while the movie was entertaining, it was less thought-provoking than I was expecting or hoping. So, enjoy, have fun, but don't expect this to provide major topics for conversation after you leave the theatre.

I read the books and saw the movie twice on opening weekend - it was awesome! Even though they had to change a few things I felt like they told the main story well. My favorite character is Peeta - Josh Hutcherson was amazing!
