The cast was pretty much as perfect as you could get! I was very impressed with the acting and how well they stuck to the book! There were some issues my friend had with some of the camera work and some motion sickness, but overall, I was way more impressed with how well this movie turned out than how the Twilight or Harry Potter series turned out. I don't think we'll be disappointed with the next two either!

Gary Ross has done an excellent job interpreting the world created by Suzanne Collins. The cast really makes an effort to capture the uniqueness of each character. Jennifer Lawrence, who many claim does not "look 16," is a wonderful actress who plays the conflicted roll of Katniss with a high degree of believability. The supporting cast definitely brings it home. Stanley Tucci, Elizabeth Banks, Woody Harrelson, and Wes Bentley put up stellar performances. Nobody is phoning it in. The pacing of the movie left me feeling like I did not have enough time with some of the other characters, Rue in particular. I did not have time to develop that emotional attachment that makes her such a critical character in the book. Overall though an excellent adaptation of the novel. The best compliment I could give it would be to say that I cannot wait to see Catching Fire. I'll probably reread the book just to get a taste.

I read the book before going, so, I knew what was going to happen or at least had an idea what the main storyline was going to be. All in all, it was a good movie. Though, honestly, all I really have is two words to recommend to the directors: Still Frames. There was too many moving frames to keep up with or to figure out what was going on. The only time you knew what was going on was then the actors were on top of the Cornicopia. When it zoomed out of the action, you could place where everyone is. I know they were trying to make it as if it was in her mind running, fighting, etc, but honestly, it was too much. Like I said, Good movie, but in a desperate need of a Do-Over Directing.

I wanted to like this film so much; I do love Jennifer Lawrence and the premise of the franchise is amazing. So going in, I was stoked. But what a disappointment! The thin dramatic tension, slow-moving screenplay and overzealous handheld camera left me a bit short of satisfaction. As a screenwriter myself, I was looking for excellence of story craft--but so many story beats were missing: the moments that would (and could) have actually made me care about these characters and their world. When it was all over, nothing had changed--for me, or for Katniss. Lawrence plays the character well, but the character herself seems as stoic and damaged at the end as she is at the beginning. What kind of hero's journey is that? As a key cultural relic, this film is a must-see. But don't study it for storytelling depth and sophistication. And above all, don't expect to be moved to tears.

I thought Gary Ross did a great job on this movie. The adaptation from the book kept the feel of the story and the few tweaks they did have to make so it was not a 5 hr movie were appropriate. Some of my friends were stuck on those minor tweaks, but they didn't take anything away from the story for me... I think they just wanted more "cave time." :) I thought this movie had great casting and all of the actors did an awesome job.

despite being two and a half hours some scenes seemed a little rushed. But the cast was perfect. Don't expect a video version of the book! Ill be seeing it again though.

My 11 year old daughter and my husband went and my daughter absolutely loved it and said it was dead on with the book. My husband who had no idea what the movie was about enjoyed the movie and was particularly fond of Woody Harrelson from our generation. The premier was packed so they didn't have great seats, but my daughter said it was the BEST movie EVER!

The movie was extremely good. I am always a little skeptical of how accurate a movie is that is based off of a book but the Hunger Games did a pretty awesome job. There are small variations here and there but overall it stayed true. In my mind, the opening scene at the start of the Hunger Games was much more gruesome but they did a good job of toning it down without ruining the overall experience. I greatly enjoyed it and will recommend.

Being a huge fan of the books, I was cautious to say the least when I heard it was going to be made into a movie. Excited but cautious. I went to the midnight premier and was not disappointed by the quality of the film. It stayed true to the book, leaving in small details. There was really only one thing that I didn't like and it's really just a technical issue and that is, the camera seems to be too focused in at times. Mainly the big action moments, it's like you can see the sweat on the actors brow but the camera is bouncing around and moving so fast that the fights are just a blur. I wish they would have pulled the shot back and let you see more of the scene. Other than that it was amazing, there were things that were exactly as I pictured them to be, like the appearance of District 12, Katniss, Haymitch, Prim and the the moment when they are all released by the Cornucopia. However there were things that were different, (that isn't a bad thing, everyone envisions something different) these include the Trackor Jackers, Peeta and Gale, and the sky of the arena. There are other things but these are just some examples. Overall I loved the movie and can not wait to see the second book on the big screen!

All in all a very good take of the book. They did an excellent job explaining stuff that you would have needed to read the book to understand. I really liked seeing the behind the scenes control room of the games. I however did not like cinematography during the fight scenes. The fast moving of the camera was confusing and caused a couple people I know to get motion sickness.

Read all the books and wasn't disappointed in the movie. Not sure if some parts would confuse people who haven't read the books as lots of background was missing or unclear. Would like the story to have been a little more indepth but at a run time of almost 2 1/2 hours already, understand why it wasn't.

Took my 13 year old daughter and her friend to the midnight premier. Well done and faithful to the book. It lived up to the hype in most every way. Daughter and friend were thrilled. As a fan of the book series I was not disappointed.

I walked out of the movie theater thinking "It was good". Maybe it was because I knew the book. Maybe it was because of the hype.
The movie was very stylized and had quote a few 1st person camera shots. Not sure how well it would read (no pun intended) if you didn't read the books. All the information is there, you just need to know where to look.
Otherwise, great acting - majors props to Lenny Kravitz as Cinna is one of my favorite characters. Breathtaking costumers and scenery - and a FANTASTIC set up for the next two (three?) movies

This was a pretty good movie. The script stayed faithful to the book, for the most part. The exposition was handled very well without slowing down the action, and the effects added to the story instead of replacing it. The acting was very good as well. My only issue with this movie was the overuse of the handheld camera effects throughout the movie. I can understand the use of this effect to make the action more dramatic, but it was used way too much throughout the entire film. Please be aware of this if you suffer from motion sickness.

I have traveled alot and have never been so excited to see this movie. Devonian Gardens is one place where I never got to go see in Calgary Alberta, and I finally got the chance to see it and never wanted to leave. Gorgeous views of rainfall and I never go to the movies very often but I would like you to send me the movie premier to look at for my own purpose to go see. This excites me to see that my hair isn't the same colour as hers...

I loved these books and I am very interested in seeing this movie, however I think that Jennifer Lawrence is tooo old to play Katniss. I do not think that they did a good job with the cast. My 2 stars are based on cast only.

I read all 3 of the books in 2 weeks. The book makes you feel like you're actually there with Katniss and Peeta. The romance and battle makes it all genres for all different readers. My ALL TIME favorite books! Hope the movie is just as good! :)

i read the book and i was the best book ive ever read. the whole entire SERIES was amazing. my friend thought it was so good she cried while reading the book! just watching the trailers and looking at photos, i can tell this movie is going be be amazing. almost as good as the twilight saga...maybe even better! the cast is perfect for the movie too. cant wait to see it!!!!!!!!!

ok so i have yet 2 c the movie but, i figure its gana b interesting bcuz the actors r all wrong 4 the ppl that i imagine them like at least...i fell in luv wit da books! best books ever...i admire katnisses strength and her own person and i just wish i could marry peeta...gale could go die in a hole 4 all i care haha just kidding ! but rly i mean if i had to pick a Katniss...it would probobly be.....either bella from Twilight, or some acctor thats strong and can rly sell the tough character. im super excited to watch the movie bcuz i wana c how they make the different graphics....i hope they r not cheezy or anything tho bcuz that would ruin everything. WELL.......overall im rly happy and hope all goes well for the cast and release of the movie!
