So if you've read the book you love the story, now the movie on the other hand... it was pretty good, obviously it had to add things we never saw in the book because the book is only from Katniss' perspective so we now see what happens behind the scenes of the arena, it left out some details which always happens in a movie version of a book it's inevitable I twists and changes a few things, but my biggest issue was with the casting director... Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss was great she played it perfectly.... however Josh Hutcherson as Peeta was the biggest flop ever him and Liam Hemsworth should have switched roles, they invented hair color and color contacts for a reason... Josh makes Peeta look dumb and immature, but that is just my opinion.

When you take a beloved book and turn it into a movie there are always going to be people who are saying "it would have been better if..." But, the reality is there is only so much you can do with a movie while staying true to the book. Gary Ross really captured that. They were able to move away from Katniss' narration in the book and show what was going on outside of the arena. For a 2 hr 22 min movie it flew by. The acting was great and everyone on the movie did a fantastic job.

I read the books and they really made you connect with the characters, you could feel how she was feeling the whole time and really relate to them. The movie was completely the opposite, everything from the book was in the movie besides the emotions. It reminded me of a Disney Channel or Sci-FYI movie. I thought the special effects were juvenile and lame. I was very disappointed and let down by this movie. Also, If you didn't read the books you would have no clue what was going on half the time.

I was a bit worried about the blood, killing, etc. that would be in this movie, but I think it was very tactfully done. The emphasis was not on the killing and the when there was killing the camara was moving around so much you couldn't really see what was happening.
It also stayed pretty true to the book.

It felt a little rushed but all in all it was a good movie. They left out a lot of development, yet you could still follow even if you had not read the books. The cast was fantastic and really fit how I saw them while reading the books. I can not wait for Catching Fire.

Wow! I was very impressed with The Hunger Games Movie! I honestly didn't think I was going to enjoy this movie that much, because the movie is usually not even comparably as good as the book! But I was surprisingly impressed with how true the movie followed the book! Can't wait for the rest of the movies to come out!! I'd recommend this film to anyone!!

The movie was good, but there were major changes from the book that I didn't care for which disappointed us. It switched from character's point of view- to behind the scenes -point of view which is not in the book. Also things were left out or changed, like how she got the mockingjay pin.

I took my teenage daughter and her friend to see the premier at midnight with the condition we all got up for school/work the next day. Other than being extremely sleepy, I would add motion sickness to the mix. The camera work was reminiscent of Blair Witch Trials, with not quite as much suspense. The story line was fast paced and a little shallow, but my daughter loved it, so the movie makers got their target audience right. If you're a 15 year old girl you'll love it. If you're not, bring dramamine and prepare to buy merchandise.

I liked the movie very much. I believe it would be harder to understand if you have not read the book the hunger games, which i would recommend doing. I loved the actors. i thought the film was played out in a very well manner that kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time.

WOW! I was concerned after reading the book, that the movie would be a let down. It was so far from that! It was a beautifully done film; cast well and the action was intense! Thank you cast, crew, and production--the best movie I've seen in years!

So most people know movies are never like the books which sucks but the movie was overall fantastic. I feel they left out a lot of parts but are crucial to the other books/movies. The cast fit the characters so well, and may I say be prepare to see Rue pass along. It was painful to watch! Other than that, the movie was great. Great filming, characters, outfits and whatnot they just needed to add the rest of the book for this to make sense in the rest of the series...

The acting was good and the fights, yes they were sugar coated because children were going to see this because it is a young novel. The movie was good. I felt like a lot of detail was left out.. the relationships Katniss had with everyone around her were not portrayed very well, I understand it is so hard to accomplish this in a movie but I think it could have been done better. The action scenes we're always blurry.. I didn't get that. Overall, yes I believe it is a good movie and I will most likely watch it again and even purchase it in the future. Just be fore-warned if you read the book already, there is a lot of, what I thought would be important detail, left out. If you haven't read the book.. watch the movie first.

I was so excited to see this movie, and I wasn't let down. While they did have to cut out a lot of details, they didn't change the story which I was really thankful for. Do I wish that they could have kept it exactly to the book, yes. However, the movie would have been 5 hours long and that just isn't feasible, nor could they keep in all of the gore because of the targeted audience. All of the actors really brought the characters to life, and I eagerly await Catching Fire.

Went to the midnight showing of this movie with my teen & friends who had read the book. It is difinitely a fast paced movie. Great cast! However, there were people who left the theater after experiencing motion sickness from the amateur video/shaky camera scenes in parts.

I went in hoping that the movie was exciting and moving. IT WAS! I only knew about the books from my children and co-workers that have read them. They got me excited to see the film. I was not disappointed! And, my children loved it. They said for once a movie made after a book was as close as it could be to the printed version of the story. My husband and I are very conservative in our movie viewing. We thought that for the thematic violence that this movie was tastefully done. Not a movie for little ones. But for the rest of the family.... GO SEE IT!

It was a very good movie. Was pretty accurate to the book. The cast chosen was excellent and the acting was exactly as it should have been according to the book, with the exception of Haymitch. I felt as though he was too "sweet" with Katniss, didn't have enough "edge" to him.
The only other thing was the filming. The camera was shaking a little too much and it was difficult to follow some of the characters. Overall the movie was excellent and I would recomment it to anyone (except children under 13).
