I enjoyed the movie except for the camera being shook during bloody violent scenes. It made me feel dizzy, but I understand why the director did it.

Very intense movie with great plot. It is slightly predictable at the end, but has an incredible ability to capture your whole being. I could not look away and had goosebumps throughout the whole movie.

The Hunger Games is brilliantly performed and emotionally connecting. At one point during the film there was utter silence followed by several sniffles and weeps. The film is engaging both emotionally and visually. It will appeal to both the tech savvy viewer looking for amazing special effects and interesting gadgets and also the viewer looking to impress his or her date on an excellent film full of emotionally intense moments. Overall the film was full of dramatic excellence. The Hunger Games is a wonderfully performed and powerfully made film.

This movie was met with great expectations and it didn't disappoint, in my opinion. I saw the midnight showing and there were 5 sold out theaters. My daughter and her friends all read the books and said the movie was closer to how the story was written than they had expected it to be. Action scenes were suitable and the storyline was touching. Not the greatest movie, I've ever seen... but it definitely served its entertainment purpose.

This movie was better than I expected it to be. I had read the book a year ago, so I can't get picky about the details, but it had everything i could remember. It was a great adaptation of the book for what a movie can do. Of course the book is better but the movie is just as good in its own way.

Although I did not read the book, I have to say I loved the movie!! I wasn't expecting to enjoy it to be honest as I only went to see it because my granddaughter wanted to see it so bad. But I am so glad I did as I loved it!! Story line reminded me of The Running Man..Now I think I want to read the books.

My grandson thought this was "the greatest movie ever." I thought the action was good but the thematic elements show the human race as headed toward a dismal future. An authoritarian government that demands and receives two children from each of 12 districts for sacrifice as punishment for a rebellion that occured more than 74 years previously. And this for entertainment of those fortunate to live in the Capitol, because I can tell you those in the districts are not entertained. Granted, hopefully one child survives and returns to their district but how does the taking of human life affect a child? Is not the evening news enough with children being abused and killed? Is this to what we will devolve? I guess this is the result of teaching our children that man is nothing but an animal evolved from single-celled animals. And with the rule change and attempted rule change reversal, I heard loud and clear that what the government giveth, the government can taketh away. I hear teachers are glad this book series came out because children are reading again. But what are they reading?!?!?!?! This movie is just poor on so many levels - class warfare, some racial overtones, dictatorial government, child sacrifice in the name of punishment and entertainment - just to name a few. I'm glad I saw this movie so my grandson and we can have a heart to heart discussion. Parents, watch what your children are watching.

I had very high expectations coming into this because I loved the books so much. Katniss, the acting, costumes, scenery were great, but I found that a lot of what I felt were important details were left out and the character development was very rushed (to the point that my husband, who did not read the books, was pretty lost by the end.) Because I read the books it was easy for me to follow, and even though I liked the movie, I was disappointed and felt it was geared towards those who read the series.

I loved this movie. It was AWESOME! We took a group of 7th graders to watch it on opening day. They all came out talking about how wonderful it was. For the ones that read the books, they seemed a little disappointed that a few of the details that were in the book were left out of the movie. Each of them were ready for the second movie to be out. My own children are still talking about the movie today. It was a very intense movie and kept you on the edge of your seat. I would definitely watch the movie again!

But I think that overall they did a good job adapting the story to the big screen. The only complaint I had, and it's the reason I didn't give the movie 5 Stars, is that the cinematography was jerky and abrupt. I think that it distracted from the acting and character development at times, and made my head hurt at others.
I think the casting was superb, and I'm interested to see how they do with the following movies (if they make them).

Great adaptation of the book. A few scenes in the book were changed for the movie. I'm not sure how they will make that work in the sequels. I will definitely be in line for tickets to the next edition.

If I hadn't read the book; I believe the movie may have impressed me more. I did not like the way the camera kept flitting quickly at the beginning. It almost gave me a headache. There was so much more detail with the book it left me feeling like there was a lot missing. However, the acting by all was great. The costumes were impressive .. and I was surprised how fast the 2 hrs and 22 mins went by.... so all in all I liked it and will definately see pictures 2 and 3.

Hunger Games the movie follows the book! I read the book quite a while back and have recommended it over and over. The movie just brought back all the parts that I loved.

I really enjoyed this movie. As did my hubby and two of my kids 10 and 14. I think they did a great job of sticking to the high points in the book. They conveyed the powerful emotions in the book without sensationalizing things for the movie. The casting was well done. I would say that it was appropriate for a 10 yr.old that has read all the books. I did not like many of the previews shown before the movie knowing the age group targeted with this book.

Ok I've read all three books three times...so when I say I know what happens I know what happens. I loved that we got to see the stuff that supposedly happened behind the games...such as the game makers area and Haymitch fighting to get sponsers...and Gale's face when Katniss kisses Peeta...that was an added bonus! It did wonder away from the books a tad...but completely understandable. I know they can't always keep exactly too the book...which is always a little disappointing...with that being said...BEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR!!!! Will see it again!!! Just like I'll keep retreading the books!!!

Everyone in my family has read all 3 books and my son has read them each several times . We have been anxiously awaitng this premiere.That being said he was a little upset at the movie not showing the pain, agony, thirst, hungar etc. during the games among other things. I explained the screenplay writer's challange to put into 2+hour movie a book that takes place over weeks. No movie ever does justice to the novel. All in all the movie was good and I would recommend it. This is a teen movie and book , my opinion not for children under 13.

If you enjoyed the book, you should like this film. At 2:22, it is about as long as you can get away with. That said, like any book adaption, there has to be compromises. But this film doesn't skimp on the most important element of the book- the excellent character development. There is plenty of event based action too, but the leads do well to make the personal interaction the key.
For my own taste, this obsession with hand held "docu-drama" style of filming is getting very overdone and at times it just gives you a headache, but that has more to do with production choices then storyline.
The film is good- go see it.

They didn't change a whole lot from the book. They left out some details which made some things hard to follow if you haven't read the books (so my husband found out) but the movie really reflected the book. I will be seeing it again with a friend next weekend it was so good!

This was a great movie. The costuming was excellent; Cinna was perfect; Katniss was believable.
I was disappointed at the way the Mutts scene was altered, and how the movie glossed over a lot of the symbolism of the books and borrowed from "Catching Fire." I was unsure why they took away so many of my favorite lines from the book, only to replace the lines with subpar cliche dialogue.
It was a great movie, but when compared to the amazing quality of the book it falls a little flat.

Never having read the book, I was extremely impressed with this movie. It was a spontaneous decision to go to the midnight premier - I'd found a theater that sold tickets for $5! What I didn't know (until the movie started) was that there was Spanish subtitles played at that theater! ^_^ Negligible enough - the movie was still awesome - suspenseful, and the action definitely made you feel part of the journey.

Excellent movie. The translation from page to screen is clear and accurate for the most part. More importantly, the small changes that were made made sense. Had I not read the book first, I would have said 5 stars, but as any reader knows, there is always a sense of lacking detail that accompanies a movie made from such a successful book.
