This movie had great potential to be much better. From the start the crew seemed to have all the discipline of middle school children. Has the director never heard of protocol? Safety protocol, infection protocol and all the other protocols were completely missing. Right from the start most of crew walked into a structure that looked unsound within minutes of landing. The entire mission could of ended right there with a structure collaspe killing most of the crew.. It started getting good about 75% of the way through. The entire crew seemed to be mentally unbalanced and the only one that knew what he was doing was the Alien. He saw them for the undisciplined idiots they were and began to immediately kill them. I want to see the Navy Seals from Act of Valor in a Alien movie. I still give it four stars.

Stole a lot from Alien. The theme could have been more original, complex, and thought provoking. Great special effects. Just another Sci Fi Horror movie. I was disappointed.

Much more in the vein of 2001 A Space Odyssey than 'just' Alien. Thought provoking from the first scene. Internally consistent, tight, with very few weak spots.

Although you may benefit from seeing Alien movies prior to watching Prometheus it is not necessary. I saw the 3D version-did not enhance the story at all. Story can stand on its own regardless of third dimension effects. When will the movie producers learn that it takes a particular kind of story to use 3D integrally?
I wish Noomi Rapace a long film career; I like her.

This movies should be seen in RealD 3D for an immersive realistic experience. Both the space and underground cave exploration are convincing in terms of quality visual and surround audio effects. The simple story of searching for creator/god is good, and the ending is satisfying and yet opens up for sequels. The best monster is similar to and better than The Thing.

Cons lack of sex and nudity, lack of combat/fight

2 adults and 2 seniors went to this movie for Father's Day. I was disappointed by the lack of a good and logical story plot, poorly developed characters...e.g., a trillion dollar project and the company hires a bunch of yahoos...the geologist, pilot, etc. What was lacking was a paramilitary presence but then the characters would have made sense. Sorry, poorly done!

As a stand alone movie, I'd say this was a well made flick. However, knowing it is a prequel, it is difficult not to compare the movie with it's predecessors. Decent acting ... nice special effects ... great story and camerawork. I would recommend seeing it but I wouldn't waste the money to see it in the theatre or in 3D. There are only a couple of places where the 3D really enhances the film.

I said this several times during the movie. I Dont understand the tie-end with the other movie or why *Spoiler* the humannoid aliens wanted to kill us......The movie was beautiful all the same.
