If you're into being politically correct, don't complain after watching it. This movie is so funny because it is not afraid to say what many would like to but afraid to. I was laughing out loud throughout the movie.

Sacha Baron Cohen is a very funny man and has made a funny movie. However, it is just not as funny as Borat, which had more layers of humor. However, The Dictator goes in some unexpected directions and even provokes a little thought. Anna Faris is cute as a button and gamely sticks to the story. Likely better than most comedies out there.

I am afraid it wasn't that funny overall. The audience were pretty silent apart from some forced delivery of humor and lewd comments reference BJ's and Semen.
I was also surprised at the Grove in LA as the movie is "R" rated and they allowed kids in to watch,there were at least 3 Girls aged around 5/6 with their parents.!!!!
Cannot recommend this one.

Somehow the outrageous comedy that made Borat and Bruno so funny is missing here. Or perhaps it's all become formulaic. It's outrageous, no problem, but not funny. Because the comedy doesn't work, the endless parade of scatological gags becomes very tiresome very quickly.
The audience I sat with hardly ever chuckled, and that includes me. How many semen and BJ jokes can an audience endure at one sitting? According to my internal Laugh-O-Meter, not many.
Sascha and company, you fell flat on this one in my opinion.

Very hard to come-up to the level of Borat... Cohen is now too well known to pull that off, again. Still, many very funny moments best enjoyed with an appreciative, receptive crowd.
There is some attempt at making some political points (which I agree with) that causes the movie to slow down. It's meant to be an echo of Chaplin's The Great Dictator. Not really in the same league but definitely worth seeing.

Provocative, uncomfortable, irreverent, and oftentimes, laugh out loud funny, The Dictator is a genuinely funny and entertaining film.
As long as you can stomach such displays of ethnic intolerance as Asians being teased about confusing their l's and r's, Arabs referred to as sand monkeys, and Jews having urine poured on their heads, you're apt to enjoy this equal-opportunity offender. A must see.

"The Dictator" was hilarious! Sacha Baron Cohen took a villain and turned him into a regular crackpot that anybody could relate to. When it comes down to it, we are all human and often make similar Koo Koo mistakes in life.
The comedy is very well done. It was goofy, funny, and shocking at times; not unlike "Borat" and better than "Ali G". Sacha gave this flic his signature style but with a little more heart!
Along with Ben Kingsley there is an excellent supporting cast. And the soundtrack is to die for! The tunes are just as comical as the jokes!
In a time when we are fed ridiculous media that instills fear, this movie gives life a light hearted look. And even in the worst circumstances, there is always the human spirit at work.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors, very funny!
