The opening chase and pursuit scene of this Bond film is one of the most spectacular ever filmed, and you immediately realize that this Bond film was worth waiting for. The director Sam Mendes does an excellent job of revealing some dark secrets of the characters in this movie and creates an interesting storyline to go along with all of the action.

I believe the direction the "New" Bond movies is excellant. I DO NOT compare the new Bond films with the old, they were great movies within themselves, the new Bond, Daniel Craig has his own performance and story to tell and what better way than to have one movie telling a storyline of "his childhood past" to help understand his "roots". Let him create in own legacy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great job to ALL of the Stars in this film!

Not a huge Bond fan. This was the best Bond movie I have seen. All the basic elements of Bond less gadgets which I thought was a refreshing twist. Plot was great. Overall, highly entertaining without being over the top.

Focuses on the story and drama of James Bond without the need
for gadgets like laser watches etc.. it's James Bond and MI-6 old
school... saw all the reviews before I thought about spending the
money to go see it on the "big screen" (utlrascreen) .. I would
definitely recommend it.

my only real complaints about this movie are twofold:
the performance of the villian was a bit campier than I would've liked.
the basic storyline reminded me quite a bit of another popular action/thriller which I won't name to prevent an unwanted spoiler. otherwise this is a very exciting and relatively smart bond. a bit on the long side. be prepared.

This is a pretty classic Bond movie, very watchable, but does disappoint once again for not a very good storyline, and a certain unbelievablity that leaves a bad taste in your mouth. At one point the bad guy leads Bond on a chase under and through the London Subway system, only to finally get caught halfway up a ladder. Bond is about to shoot him, when miracles of miracles the bad guy pushes a remote detonation button and an explosion rips a hole in the floor of the subway, just in perfect time to allow a train to fall through the roof and allow his escape,......absurd. But Daniel Craig is still the best James Bond ever, Judy is great as M again, and if you ignore the absurd unrealistic details, it is still an action packed Bond movie, and watchable. It just makes you wonder who is writing the plot and storyline, and then who is editing!

I have to say that Skyfall was a great Bond movie. it wasn't overly complicated and drawn out like the last movie. This had a great story line, full of action, and special effects. Loved they way they brought some "vintage Bond" stuff into the movie...would really like a Sean Connery cameo next time. Excellent movie, a must see!

Perhaps because it's Bond's 50th anniversary, this installment of the franchise spends more time looking backwards than forwards. Casino Royale was such a great "reboot" of the series that Skyfall seems a bit stale in comparison. For Bond lovers there are sentimental flashbacks to Istanbul (From Russia With Love) and the requisite sacrificial women. Bond once again cares about drinking Martini's shaken. And by the end (spoiler alert) we even return to M's old office and Miss (maybe it's Ms- some progress) Moneypenny, hat rack, quilted leather door and all.
There are great fights scenes and chases on a train and through the London subway, and some clever dialogue (although not as wonderfully snarky as Roger Moore's, if that's your thing), but much of the Bourne-style "realistic" and gritty edge that had entered into the franchise with Casino Royale has been forsaken for nostalgia and a patchwork narrative that makes little sense. By all means see this, as it is beautifully made and fun, but don't be disappointed if it feels a bit like a stylish rehash.

Great FX.Started off OK then the plot became muddled and directionless.To quote another British writer,"...full of sound and fury,signifying nothing".I felt like I was watching a movie that was made to make into a video game.Javier Bardem made a good villain and Ralph Fienees was very good also.My wife and I saw Cloud Atlas the week before.We both loved Cloud Atlas but she fell asleep 30 minutes into Skyfall.

As Bond movies go, this one was... slightly better than average. Would have liked to seen more gadgets - I mean, that's one of the main reasons I go to see a Bond movie.
Yeah, yeah - the lack of gadgets was a plot device and all, but still.
Oh, also - I made the mistake of watching all of the trailers as they became available online. The trailers spoiled too many surprises in the movie. People in the audience "ooo'd" and "aaahh'd" when you-know-what appeared in the garage that Bond opens to get M out of harms way - I'd already seen it in the trailers. People jumped and grew wide-eyed when the bad guy hit his "radio" button in the Tube and you-know-what came along after - I'd already seen it in the trailers. My fellow audience members must've thought I was asleep....

In the absence of a global threat, apart from terrorists, the Bond franchise probably had no other choice but to look for a villain from within their ranks. This the writers did very well, but the end is anti-climatic which seemed to be an attempt to get rid of all of the old actors and start the next Bond movie with younger ones. Even Bond (Daniel Craig) is too old, it is as if the franchise is telling the audience that this is the last one with him starring. For me, he has has been the best Bond. The one failure of the movie is the absence of any real sexual tension between the characters. It is just not what the movie is about, and when the anything sensual happens, it seemed out of place and mechanical. Good movie though!

It was sad to have the ending we had with Skyfall, yet we must remember this was a retooling of the James Bond 007 series with Daniel Craig to reestablish the characters and history. We get to finally meet Miss Moneypenny and see there history they had. We finally meet Q and the male M which we know from the earlier Connery, Brosnan, Dalton, Moore and even that Lazenby.....
It was good, we got more Dence time and even the old Bond car.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors

The film has much to speak for of the franchise itself. An aging Bond in which both Bond and M are courted for retirement by the MI6 brass. The villain specializes in cyber crime. The film could have been shortened a little and been just as effective. The new Bond girl was killed off too soon in my opinion (Sorry for the spoiler alert) A nice treat was the role of Albert Finney as the guardian of Bond's family estate, and of course, fetching the Aston Martin in one last hurrah.
All in all, a good film in which, despite all the odds Bond lives to fight again.

Cons slightly too long in parts

For bond fans who like the corny special effects this one will disappoint you. For PURE BOND this movie is a delight.... Great story, Lot's of twist and an ending that is a new beginning!

Back to basics--no more crazy, megalomaniacal villains set on destroying the world. This one makes it personal and, in the process, delivers one of the best Bond experiences in years. Fabulous performances, exceptional art direction, and an ingenious reboot of the franchise. Sam Mendes ties it all together in a surprisingly effective way. Must see!

This is more than an action packed Bond movie, it is also a thinking mans (womans) movie. Pay attention from the start, because the nuances of the film are very interactive. I loved how they linked the entire genre of Bond films in ways throughout this movie! As always with Bond films, alot of action, and great scenery! As a James Bond fan who has seen most of the Bond movies, I loved the way they integrated the old to the new. Great job!

Lot of action and excellent movie. I do like Daniel Craig. I also liked the line about not using pens that explode any more. Judi Dench was also good in her part. I did not like that she died at the end. A little to long a show.
