This movie was fantastic! I've actually seen it twice in two days already and this is my personal favorite Bond film. Much more cereberal then others but very good that way. Recommended to everyone!!

Wow, what a disappointment. Low on action, low on suspense, low on Bond, and very poor story. Maybe this was some kind of attempt to be a cerebral, reflective movie instead of the usual Bond flick, but it dies in the canyon between - neither entertaining in the classic Bond way, nor really qualifying as a thoughtful movie.
Javier Bardem delivers the only engaging performance in the movie as the villain, but the story line of his character's vendetta against M is shallow and simultaneously leaves a lot on the table that could have made for a more interesting movie - it was obviously just a half-baked mechanism to enable the theme of M being "put to pasture". That theme itself was cliche and poorly executed as well - the performance by Dench felt recycled, and Whishaw, Fiennes and Finney were underutilized and limited to cardboard roles.
Bond films always ask for a great deal of suspended disbelief from the audience, but this time Bond's return from the grave was so dismissively handled, it feels like any thin veil of storytelling was dropped: It's like you're in the script pitch session at the studio, instead of watching the finished product: "Yada yada yada, Bond somehow survives, let's skip the details, you know how it always goes". Sure, but at least make an attempt to entertain us! Much of the movie was like that.
It also felt like there were real budget constraints, impacting location. The London scenes were basically a studio basement; Shanghai amounted to a fly-by; Bardem's island held promise, but they did little except show up and shoot a couple cheap scenes there - not exactly the lair you'd hope to see for a digitally-omniscient villain.
The purpose of the movie seems merely to be to shuffle in and out various actors, and prep the audience for sequels to come.

I love James Bond. I was amazed at how poor this movie was developed. If the second half of the movie is quadruple the anticipated glee of the first half, then I apologize. If you can make it to the second half of the movie, I commend. I wanted so badly to love this movie. Casino Royale with Daniel Craig as Bond was the best Bond movie yet. From dialogue to cinematography and the hard-ass that had long been been missed from Bond since Sean Connery; it was confounding. Quantum of Solace...well, never judge a book by its cover, but if you saw it then you already know it unfortunately was as bad as its movie title. This one is no different as you will find yourself trying to get entrenched only to find yourself gasping for air the more you try. Exhaustion sets in after you relinquish the reality that, "this just isn't going to ignite". Try all you may, but this movie has no substance sans special effects and the hope of a plot that should send said screenwriter back to the guild to discover skills likely never had. I am sad to write this and disappointed to walk out half way through. One should never have to "try" to be enthralled. Good movies draw you; you don't draw them. This one is inept and devoid of anything but patience for nothing.

Newcomers to the Bond series would find this movie very entertaining and would likely adapt quickly to the changes in characters. Veteran Bond fans might find this movie somewhat akin to the more recent Star Wars series where the older story line was set against a much higher level of technology. Nonetheless, this Bond film is one of the best ever in terms of special effects, action and incredible photography. Right from the graphics behind the credits at the beginning of the film, one could see that an emphasis has now been placed on the art of the movie as well as its content and special effects. There were numerous unusual and interesting camera angles coupled with very dynamic lighting that made this movie visually intriguing far beyond the story line.
The story line itself was well done, providing a necessary bridge between the two film excursion (Casino Royale, Quantum Solace) and the original Bond film (Dr. No. ). The stunts were excellent and met or exceeded the expectations set so highly by Bond films.
Some changes have been made to the cast and overall interactions of the movie. The old days of one-liners and quips appear to be fading and the new Bond emerges as a terrier of hunting down diabolical madmen. A new "Que" will satisfy most of the newer generation by demonstrating computing prowess.
In short, it was a very exciting and gripping experience. If this is where the new Bond is headed, I think we can expect another 50 years of high-quality entertainment.

Without saying any spoilers, this stunning eye-pleasing film falls flat in the build up to the climax, in terms of the unrealistic actions taken by Bond (the storyline).
That being said, it's the best action movie of the year so far. Nothing Oscar-worthy though.

This should have been Craig's first bond, shows a new side of bond without losung sight of the idea of bond. Cinematography was solid as well as the story. Bardem was great as a nemesis. Overall entertaining, funny and has that unique bond feel for the first time in this new franchise

Skyfall has a very different flavor than most Bond movies. It focuses more on the characters and story. The movie is loaded with great action sequences, but they are not at the forefront. Plus Skyfall gives moviegoers something new and fresh that they have always craved about Bond. Finally, we learn more about how Bond became Bond. Furthermore, there are considerable nods to classic Bond elements that make the movie more thrilling and realistic. I was completely blown away by Skyfall, and I really enjoyed the style in which the movie was done. It was very refreshing, and I cannot wait for the next Bond movie. Daniel Craig, Judy Dench, and Javier Bardem were outstanding!

If you are looking for an old-school 007 movie, this isn't it. There is no parachute, no boat chase, no ski scene; the story does not allow you to gloss over difficult subjects like killing and death. However, if you like the new era of James Bond movies with depth, this is for you. The characters seem more real. The emotion is moving. The acting is fantastic. There are real relationships. There is still humor, and still fun, and of course several romantic interludes (it's James Bond after all!) but it is all balanced with a sense of real human emotion and substance. Beautiful visually. And I think Daniel Craig is the best Bond ever.

A fun action movie that falls short in the story department. Great special effects and great scenery with some boring lulls in between. Slow story progression real keeps this movie from being on the same level as Casino Royale. Still much better than Q.O.S.

This and the previous two Bond films have had a nice twist in that Bond is seen less as comic book guy and a real spy who has feelings, issues, and such. And then you get all the great action, movie, style, etc.
In short, this is great. I definitely recommend it! It's 2 1/2 hours long, but you wouldn't know it as it just flies by.

I still think Sean Connery was the best James Bond, 007, but Daniel Craig does a commendable job. I was sorry to see ********** is now dead (see I didn't spoil it for those who haven't watched it yet).

Loved it. Joining of past Bonds trivia with new was awesome. If you did not follow the Bond series you would not have known the name of the secretary at the end Moneypenny..first Bond movie. M's passing was a shock but well done lead into new M and Q. I might even see this again.

Good action movie but the Bond girl, fun, humorous Casino Royale vibe is missing. This could have been any other big budget action film. The bulk of the interaction in the movie revolved around Bond and M. Snoozer. Bond should be witty, have a lot of gadgets, and there should be some of him romancing someone who is in the movie more than a brief shower cutaway or a brief bed scene cutaway. It is a good action movie but there are about 3 gadgets and one is his old car. They actually blow up the old car which makes me wonder if they wanted to note a historic shift. Disappointed only because I expected more than just bland action.
Pros good opening scene, learn about bond's origins
Cons short on bond girls, short on gadgets
