I love Daniel Craig as Bond, but they make him seem tired here, and the movie lacks the riveting action and sex appeal of every last Bond classic. At least he gets a sexy shave, but it's too late to save this film from over-indulgence and a plodding pace.

Saw Skyfall on Saturday, what a fantastic movie. The plot was amazing. The scenery was fantastic. The 'old style' Bond lines with the double meanings were great. Not nearly as 'dark' as the past couple of 007 movies have been. The acting was amazing and I thought the 'baddie' played a great role. Bring on the next one!

Best James Bond of all time. I have the full collection and can't wait to buy this one to add to the 007 library. Sean Connery I love you and always will but Daniel Craig has just completely won me over with this performance. The depth of emotion - the darkness of his character with the suddle softness undertone. Javier - you give me chills. Your gorgeous even when you are scary. I didn't see the end coming but wow!!! gave me everything I hoped for in a bond movie and much more. Fabulous - I've got tickets to see it again as once is not enough.

This is the last of the Bond prequels that both reboot the franchise and re-imagine the character and his organization. This is a gritty Bond who illustrates the wear and tear of doing the job he does.
The narrative and film are a post-modern pastiche that liberally cuts and pastes the ambience of the early Sean Connery films, updates them, and applies the latest cinematic gloss to the end product. This Bond film is like a reunion tour of much of what came before. This film assumes you know Bond better than the characters who surround him yet there are plenty of surprises and a new back-story that keep it interesting.
When a drink at the bar is poured for him he replies, "Just the way I like it" and you and I know, in rock concert fashion, that's 'shaken not stirred'. The film is a delight because like the Batman franchise, the character is not trivalized or simply made a sock puppet for gadgetry. It could easily stand alone as a one-off thriller for those who don't care for Bond or franchise characters.
It will be interesting to see where it moves from here. For now, this one is as good as Bond gets.

It's entertaining but this never feels like a Bond movie. Casino Royale - the real reboot of the franchise - had more of a Bond feel than this one (and was a damn good movie); between the ridiculous Heineken product placement and the absurd ending set piece, and the fact that the line "shaken, not stirred" is never uttered in the film, you may as well be watching a Bourne-esque spy thriller. We come to Bond time and time again because of the Bond brand, and that is sorely missing in this otherwise very entertaining flick.

Normally its about Bond being supercool, chasing a villain, and with gadgets and all taking him down. Skyfall had a real storyline and presses on getting deeper into the Bond character and his relationship with M. Not sure if that is what we Bond fans want, but it was acceptable to to this franchise go in that direction. If I was disappointed in anything, it was in that the villain was introduced too late and there was very little interaction adn time to get to know him and see Bond square off with him. Maybe Javier is not a stunt guy, who knows. Still, worth watching but Casino Royale is the best Craig Bond movie to date.

This was a fantastic action movie. It felt like a reset to the Bond franchise which was much needed after the epic fail that was Quantum of Solace. Daniel Craig fights back with a vengeance and Judi Dench is classic as usual. The addition of Ralph fines is a great one and Javier Bardem made a great villain. Can't wait for the next film!

Well produced but not all that. There's still a hollowness to this enterprise, despite the best efforts of Craig, Dench and Bardem. There's nothing about the material that causes any recognizable human emotion. So it's a lush, pleasant cash grab, but a cash grab nonetheless, and you feel it as you leave the theatre.

This is now my favorite Bond movie. It was grittier with all the action of the series. I love Daniel Craig as Bond. He is less polished than Connery or Moore (or Brosnan and Dalton) but brings a more realistic feel to the character. Also, the ubiquitous sex scenes are there but not so overdone. Craig's Bond is more about "Queen & Country" while doing his job and less about romancing the latest babe while completing the mission. Not to say he wouldn't take advantage of any offers but it seems less important to this Bond.
I also enjoyed how they managed to get so many of the cliche Bond in-jokes and images into the movie at some point. It gave a nice sense of continuity to the series. I enjoyed seeing a bit more of Bond's personal history. Not so much to lose all the mystery but enough to give his character depth.
The special effects were excellent as always, and the stunts were great- very realistic, I can imagine them actually happening. The acting was good overall. There was only one character that I didn't get into and that was Severine. She seemed a bit flat, though she did give a decent impression of being terrified while trying not to show it during the casino bar scene.
The music- wonderful! New favorite song!

Quantum of Solace took a lot of flak for being the first serialized Bond that took the storyline from the previous movie and continued it. I don't understand why people hated that so much. I loved it, and I was eager to see where they would take the story from there. This story, more akin to traditional Bond movies, carries over none of the main plot points of the previous two. It's a typical, enjoyable Bond story with a phenomenal albeit anticlimactic villain performance by Javier Bardem. So many story elements just seemed to be excuses to introduce new actors that would take over some of the peripheral character roles. Skyfall is short on action and heavy on moodiness. And the ending was basically a more violent version of Home Alone. Not impressed.

This Bond is a more "human" Bond, not just a walking, shooting cliche' machine. I like very much how the last three movies with Daniel Craig has explored the Bond character and his back-story. Even my wife liked it!

The latest Daniel Craig Bond movie is a good action flick in its own right, but completes the reboot trilogy of writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade setting the stage for the future of the franchise.
In developing the back-story of Bond, with Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace and now, Skyfall... the writers have reintroduced Bond and explained his tendencies to a new audience, such as his preferred martini mix and why he can so easily, if a bit callously, get past the death of the woman in the story. Skyfall introduces a new Q who offers only two very simple "gadgets" as opposed to the usual 3 or four and we still see a rough, raw, bare-knuckles bond rather than the uber-cool, ultra-suave lady killer.
The villain isn't threatening the world as much as he is MI6 and Bond's rather warm relationship with M, played by Dame Judi Dench. The stakes are more personal to both Bond and the audience, as our fears for the future of a franchise rest not in the forever forty-something Bond but in the aging, damaged field agent whose fitness for service is being questioned by everyone but M. When the gravitas and personal issues dealt with in these last 3 Bond movies breaks, I think we will see a return to a more casually cool Bond who has the experience once again to get out of more fist fights than he gets into.
If we're going to see more from Daniel Craig, it will have to be as a return to the conventions of the debonaire, spy who lives more by his wits than by his braun. And if so, we'll be that much more prepared for a callous, fearless, even funny Bond, knowing what he's been through.
Skyfall stands a good movie and a necessary step in the Bond reboot. It may not look much like a typical Bond movie, but, after all, do we need to keep seeing "typical' Bond movies?
