Although there are almost no scenes in the theatrical version that are shown on the previews/trailers, this movie did not disappoint in the make you jump factor. Yes, there are some holes and yes there are some cheesy scares but overall this movie was great. This is the perfect theater movie and you will get goose bumps, no matter what others negative reviews you may read. I have seen all 3 movies and recommend you see the first 2 before seeing the 3rd so you have an understanding as to what is going on. There are some things still not explained but I'm hoping a director's cut comes on the DVD/Blu-ray to help fill those in.

i almost thought i was watching a different movie. they left out alot of stuff that the previews had, like the girl jumping, the mom getting snatched by the ghost, the girl throwing water on the ghost. i read they showed the previews to get you in to see the movie because they didn't want to give away the movie. well i call it trickery. i will never go see another paranormal again. i was very disappointed and leaving the theatre confused. the first 2 movies were way better than this one, and i do not recommend anyone to go and see this. save your money.

This was honestly the first movie to scare me in theaters. Going into it I thought it was going to be very predictable but I was kind of wrong. The plot follows the same as it's predecessors, but every time something was about to happen I thought I knew what was coming and was caught completely off guard each time.

This was a great movie the twist at the end was amazing and it all added up at the end. the paranormal activity 2 tied in the this one. was a good glimpse of the history of the two girls and parents which was the only thing the first two were missing, good movie, still scary and jumpy, but not quite as good as the first two, BUT, did answer some questions about the origin of this ghost/demon, so maybe that makes it just as good if not better than the first two! good movie to take ur date if u want her to jump in your arms ;-)

I don't really care for these types of movies. However, it could have been better. First, some of the scariest scenes are in the trailers and previews; not in the movie! Save your money and stick with the trailers. Second, it isn't immediately clear what the opening sceens have to do with the remainder of the movie. This movie is actually where this movie trilogy began as the movies have gone in reverse order thus far. By far, this was the most revealing and action packed and set the pace for at least one more movie.. The only thing that disappointed me was that much of the theatrical trailer footage was not in the actual theater release. PA1 was awesome and kept me awake at night and thinking about it for months! PA2 was the exact same and a truly great pre/sequel! You could tell the writers put a lot of thought into the second movie. PA3 was just not good and disappointing in comparison. It felt like they rushed to put it together and there are so many things that don't make any sense in the overall scheme of the trilogy. I guess the good news is that I was able to sleep peacefully that same night I saw it. I hope they just stop here and don't try to push a PA4 on us next year.
I highly recommend watching PA1 and PA2!!
