A little predictable, however still very enjoyable. Most scarey movies like this are very low budget and feel low budget, this was great. Quality movie. Very entertaining. Scared me a little too :-P
Pros great story

Yes, I had some reservations about the subject matter and wasn't looking forward to some demonic possession horror film. The subject matter was very well presented and showed respect for religious beliefs and practices. I have great respect for the strength of Hasidic beliefs and appreciate respect shown in Possession. Performances demonstrated abilities to stretch beyond to create something greater than gore and horror. The psychological aspects of family members were clear and held me at the edge of my seat from beginning to end. The closing scene scores right up there with "Carrie".
Pros well paced, great story, great actors, amazing special effects.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This was a good storyline backed up with some great acting...by Kyra Sedgwick and Jeffrey Dean Morgan? NO! The kids ruled in this movie. The children projected some great acting and I was thrilled and scared the entire movie.
Most possession movies throw things at you just to startle you and even though this one did that a few times, it wasn't overdone. When I was on the edge of my seat or hiding my eyes behind my hand, it was because of the story and plot, not because they were going to flash something scary on screen for a second with a loud audio cue.
Good job, it's been many year since a possession movie has given me what I paid for. Thanks!!
Pros great story, great actors
Yes, I recommend this movie.

The Possession - Terror based on story instead of effects
Sam Raimi has produced a nice variation of an exorcist film. Rapper Matisyahu is the exorcist in his first screen role and does quite well in the part. Kyra Sedgwick and Jeffrey Dean Morgan ( a Javier Bardem clone) play the divorsed parents of a girl who becomes possessed by a dibbuk. Natasha Calis plays the daughter (EM) who morphs slowly into a victim. There is little by way of special effects or the usual formulas. This is strictly old school. Its a refreshing change. Its nothing special, but its a solid horror film with some decent acting and worth seeing.
This is the best horror movie I have seen in a long time. The scares were great and the acting was very good. I highly recomend this to anyone who loves horror movies.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors, great scares
Cons none
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Very good movie, very suspensful, just graphic enough to get the desired effect, without being overly gross. Certain scenes purposely let you imagine what is going on, without showing you every gory detail. Definitely worth seeing, NOT an over-the-top slasher movie!
So scary and things happened unexpetedly. Will tell friends to see movie.
Pros well paced, great story
Yes, I recommend this movie.

First I have to say I'm a die hard Jeffrey Dean Morgan fan so his role in the movie is what I loved. But he deserves better than this, and so does Kyra. Jeffrey and Kyra do their best but they can't elevate the movie above an average story telling level. If you were living this story, you'd be terrified for your child, but watching it in a movie theater, I was not the least bit nervous, let alone scared. My 13 year old granddaughter was with me, and not scared. Some people think it's scary but I assume they also got nervous during Hercules or Xena, another Raimi/Tapert collaboration. The movie never gets to a terrifying climax. The final scene is shot in a physical therapy room with blindingly bright lights. This should have been a dark scene, perhaps with the lights going out and the red glow of generators lighting it. Kyra's boyfriend is completely unnecessary and I don't see why his part was even written, let alone left in the movie. The kids are great...good acting. Look forward to seeing them in the future. I recommend the movie because the story is suppose to be true, and if you love Jeffrey, you'll be happy to see it. Just don't go expecting to be scared. It's not likely. No blood or gore, no swearing...not scary enough to me for even the PG 13.
Pros great actors, jeffrey dean morgan
Cons slow, poor lighting effects, no terror level
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Being a horror movie junkie, I think this movie is one of the better horror films in recent years. Getting away from the traditional possession stories of the Catholic priest performing a exorcism is a welcome break. Non-believers have a difficult time with this type of film with the cinemography of the demon but i say well played. Creepy and disturbing, right up my alley. I am very impressed with Natasha Calis (Em), she put forth an excellent performance with this movie, i will be looking forward to more by her. As always Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Kyra Sedgwick are right on. You HAVE to be a believer in displaced spirits to thoroughly enjoy this film.
This movie was worth seeing. It didn't need alot of gore to be scary.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

So disappointed, exactly why I don't go to the movies anymore! The movie went by too quickly, if anything, and it was just not as scary as you would hope so. I only jumped once and if you saw the commercials, you have seen the movie, because those are all the scary parts! Next time don't show all the scary parts in the commercial and maybe if I didnt already know what was happening, it would have been decent. Love the actors, just wasn't a really great movie after all. So wish I would have seen lawless!
Pros jewish possession story
Cons too quick not enough suspense or thrills
No, I do not recommend this movie.

I liked the movie, the little girl actresses did an amazing job. I think the studio messed up though in releasing the scariest parts in the trailers. Had they left most of those out it would have been scary. Btw Matishayu was awesome in his role.
This movie I recommend as a basic guide line for spiritual warfare. Even though, some scene I may question on actual events, I may add that all things are possible when demonic possession is concerned. If your looking for a horror flick, this may not be what your looking for, however if your looking for " what and what not to do" where spiritual warfare in concern, this movie I recommend.
