This was definitely a man's movie. It was slow to pick up and Ryan Reynolds character was hard to buy. At first he acts scared of everything and all of a sudden becomes a confident killer. This was not one of Denzel's better movies. I don’t recommend it at the theater, the cost is not worth it.

The fingerprints of the Bourne movies are all over this film, from the way one of the protagonists is introduced to the audience, the shaky hand held cams and the ill fated love interest with a foreign acccent to the intense ultimate fighter scenes and demolition derby car "chases" (not so much chasing as crashing). Still and all, this movie has Denzel, Robert Patrick, Ruben Blades, Brendan Gleeson, Vera Farmiga and Ryan Reynolds. My wife thought Reynolds developed his character nicely and I loved Denzel, particularly the scenes between Blades (a favorite) and Washington. Don't expect too much in the originality department and you'll be rewarded by the acting and the action.

Went to see the movie Safe House on 3/17/12.. It was a very good movie alot of fast action and very entertaining. I sometimes get bored at movies and fall asleep but not on this movie. So much action I was awake thru the whole movie. Denzal did a good job with his acting abilitie, he is one of my favorite actors, I would recommend others to see this film, you won't be dissapointed. I enjoyed it very much.

A movie like this is all about the actor's chemistry. The film point out the worst of it two leads. Denzel is regurgitating the same old "bad dude with a moral streak" from Training Day and Ryan Reynolds is doing a hybrid of "hero man" from Green Lantern and the clumsy guy from his comedies.
Predictable and boring.

We are huge Denzel and Ryan fans, so we knew this movie would be good, and it didn't disappoint! The nonstop action and solid story line kept us entertained and guessing till the very end.
