I too had high hopes, and Denzel really doesn't make a bad movie. Unfortunately as soon as they said "Spoiler Alert" the leak must have come from inside the agency i knew (Kind of ovious) it was Ryan's boss. that pretty much ruined the whole movie for me. but i have to agree with the one of the other reviewers that i too am sick and tired of just about every plot in every action movie dealing with the CIA, FBI, NSA, GOV, and Military having some sort of global conspiracy theory. Get over it!!! The action scenes were really loud and you really didn;t have any character connection. So you really didn't care what happened to any of them in the end. I would say this movie would fall under the "Wait for the Blue-Ray" to come catogory. The Pluses were the cool CIA spy stuff they had and the car chase was VERY intense.

I had high hopes. I really like Denzel. I am sick and tired of the bad guy CIA movies already. Geez it seems like the only way to write a plot is to have some sort of global conspiracy theory. Get over it, the political undertone is annoying and maybe the CIA deserves a quiet "thank you" instead of all this crap from Hollywood all the time. In terms of the action scenes it was loud but entertaining. Still a big Denzel fan but he's done much much better than this.

The plot was confusing to follow; the characters appear to be all over the place. They replaced a good story and plot with a lot of noise that kept much of the audience from falling asleep. Denzel played a good "bad guy" who somehow turns out to be a misunderstood "good guy" ??? What? Don't bother. Wait for it to come out for $1 and you can rewind and slow it down.

I was really lost in the first 20 minutes but it does comes together in the end. Too many chase scenes!!! Some what of a spy movie without much spy gear. There is lots of action but with the chase scenes, it got boring. The "R" rating is for the (bloody) violence with fist fighting, water boarding, shooting, stabing, etc..
I think the movie could have been a lot better with a little added humor and suspense. (After two-thirds of the movie, I saw at least 2 people look at their phones; I looked at my watch to see how much longer the movie was going to run.)
I recommend for 12 years old and order; younger kids will most likely not be able to follow the plot.

The theatre was packed and I watched it from the first row of the theatre. Not sure why they build seats that close to the screen because you start off not seeing 1/3 of the movie. High action and predictable - it was hard to see it all but it all was very good. Not the best I've seen lately but well worth the time and money. Both actors were at their best. Good to see Ryan Reynolds outside a romantic comedy. Reminded us of the Bourne Series of movies but less complicated.

Cool. Quick editing bounces you in and out of scenes and partly viewed places, giving you sudden movements and glimpses of characters and actions to reveal the urgency of getting to safety basically. I went in to this showing with very high hopes of solid entertainment and I was not disappointed. Denzel does not let you down in his excellent performance as he commands the situation he protrays. Ryan Reynolds was a refreshing surprise as a supporting actor and I hope he get all the recognition he deserves for his performance in this action pacted movie. So what if some of the plot was expected (not all of it was by any means), this was a fantastic movie and I would certainly recomend it.

This one really caught me by surprise! I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. Primarily because I thought Ryan Reynolds was just a TV actor. I was wrong.
Both he and Denzel light up the big screen with character. And the action and suspense will have you on the edge of your seat! Not to mention the twists and turns in the story that resemble a Six Flags roller coaster ride!
The backdrop of South Africa adds another dimension to this espionage thriller. While the supporting cast just make this film complete!
"No one is safe" from great entertainment!

My wife and I enjoyed this movie. Denzel is the man! You can't help but enjoy his body of work. Safe House is a hit and you will enjoy this movie. Ryan held his own very well too. Go see the movie, you won't be disappointed.

The movie was absolutely GREAT!!! The action and suspense scenes were terrific. Denzel Washington, Ryan Reynolds and the entire cast did a wonderful job with each of their characters in the movie. To imagine how the CIA uses a safehouse and iimportant information is all on a chip which could destroy an agency or individuals is out of this world. Technology is so advanced these days. Overall, the movie was exciting and enjoyable.

I enjoyed this movie very much. Lot's of action and suspense. Of course Denzel is great. The plot is not a total brain teaser, it's pretty straight forward and I dont really care for the shakey camera but a lot of movies seem to be made this way now days. Some funny lines in it and the ending is predicatble but I would recomend this movie to fans of Denzel and fans of action flicks.
