I do not usually agree with critics reviews because I don't tend to watch movies with an intellectual or sophisticated mindset. If it is an action movie, I just want it to have great acting, great actions, great storyline, and character building. Unfortunately, Safe House only meets 2 out of the 4 criteria for a great action movie and I had to agree on the critic's review. The storyline and character development is left wanting. All that is left is lots of action and credible acting, as usual, from Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds as his breakout role. However, the story is predictable, the dramatic sequence of events is anti-climax, and I felt at the end of the movie that it just could have been much better.

Denzel Washington and Sam shepard brought this movie to life and their performance was absolutely stellar! Ryan Reynolds is not to be outdone either and made the movie one of the very best since the Bourne Ultimatum.
Lots of great action fight scenes, gun battles and one heck of a super fight scene while in a Bourne like car chase had me on the edge of my seat smiling and loving every minute of the movie just minutes into it.
There are plenty of surprises to be had in this one and that ending was one of them. I highly recommend this movie to everyone!

There are far too many main stream critics dissing "Safe House"....especially since it turns out to be a very good movie in the action-suspense genre it falls into. It is not a perfect movie and there are times it slowed down too much for too long. That said there are also times that it simply explodes with action, tension and violence. Denzel Washington has mastered the smoldering, malevolent anti-hero and here he takes it to an even higher level of complexity. Ryan Reynolds just gets better and better in every movie he is in. Reynolds deserves more acclaim and recognition that simply his ever increasing pay check per movie might imply. All of the acting is A+. Script and cinematography is also A+. Editing could have been better and gets a C- along with some of the hand held shaky camera style which is over-used. All in all a very worthy effort earning it a rhino horn up.

Can Denzel die or what? Good movie but Brendan Gleeson is always the CIA, FBI, mole or bad guy so you knew as soon as you saw him he was going to be the one that needed to have his rear blown off.

The movie is Denzel, plain and simple. the movie has nothing with out the intense beat of the score to make believe their is something worth watching. Not worth $8.00.
