Lacked story and direction. Plausibility of story ???? I know the CIA can cross lines but killing everybody to cover a up a mistake?? Not believable.
Too many long chase scenes. It's too bad because this movie had a great cast and the acting was excellent. I hope they try for a better storyline in the next one.

While still a solid movie, this addition to the Bourne films doesn't quite live up to its predecessors. The acting was great and the casting was believeable, but the storyline falls short. The majority of the movie is incessantly long chase scenes with no feeling of purpose or resolution. Still worth watching but don't expect that you'll leave with the same adrenaline rush as you did with the other Bourne movies.

You know all those "begats" in the Bible? Well, Treadstone did some begatting of its own - and this entry into the Bourne series lets us in on those projects. Some main players from the trilogy are here, bringing continuity. Character development yields to action, and there's plenty of action. Let yourself get caught up in it, and you'll be surprised that two hours could pass so quickly. Works best if you can put the trilogy out of your mind and view Legacy as a stand-alone action movie.

there were three chapters in bourne. Each one was complete. I don't want three chapters in this one if I have too watch all three to get a full story.
It asked more questions than it answered. It's a case of Hollywood not understanding the viewers.

If you had not seen the first three Bourne movies, this would be a very difficult movie to understand, but fortunately for most movie goers, this will not be a problem. Even so, it took awhile to understand the time sequences in the first 30 minutes of the movie. After that, no problem. Special effects were good...over the top in some places. Storyline was entertaining.

Sorry folks!! My wife slept thru part of this movie. Again there are no clear cut good and bad guys, so after a while I don't care who dies. They aren't even likeable or cool in any of their mannerisms. I was ready to go after about 20 minutes. I kept hoping it would get better and it did briefly but only briefly.

I have been waiting since early 2010 for "The Bourne Legacy". It was first believed that Matt Damon was going to once again reprise his role as Jason Bourne, but because Director Paul Greengrass retired, Matt Damon said if Paul did not direct "The Bourne Legacy" he would not return. This left Tony Gilroy the writer on all of the previous installments to either get another director or do it himself.
It's been 5 years since "The Bourne Ultimatum" hit theaters. It was believed that Jason Bourne was dead.
"The Bourne Legacy" centers around another "Rogue Enhanced" CIA Agent by the name of "Cross". Agent Cross is on the run. He runs out of meds and locates what he believes is a "Safe House" in the wilderness.
Back at CIA Headquarters it's believed that Jason Bourne is alive and in New York. A rumor is spread and this causes chaos and an all out manhunt starts. Meanwhile Agent Cross is trying to elude being killed by the CIA also while trying to get to the research institute or locate the Doctor he received his supply of meds from. The story unfolds from there...
The problem with "The Bourne Legacy" is that Jeremy Renner lacks the charisma that Matt Damon brought to the franchise. Matt Damon has magnetism and Jeremy Renner does not. Jeremy Renner is bland and stiff to say the least. The plot is complicated and difficult to decipher. There wasn't nearly as much action as the other 3 installments. Too much time is spent referring to previous installments with regards to Jason Bourne. In addition to Matt Damon not returning, neither did Julia Stiles. Had Julia returned it would have been a big help for "The Bourne Legacy". Actors from the 3 previous installments reprised their roles if only briefly. "The Bourne Legacy" really felt like a different story and not related to the other 3 installments.
"The Bourne Legacy" with all of it's faults is still better then "Total Recall". My concern is that the door was left open for additional installments. Universal Pictures would be wise to get Matt Damon back!! I can't imagine Jeremy Renner as Agent Cross again.

I thought it moved kind of slowly at first, I kept waiting for Renner to kill the guy in the cabin to get the chems or at least hav an awesome fight.
There were good twists and turns in the plot.
I thought it ended a bit abruptly - fabulous chase & kick-the-guy-off-the-motorcycle bit, then "help us please" and we're now safe and sound on a boat in the middle of nowhere. Renner & the other operative surely should hav fought it out with maybe the girl killing or helping to kill the "bad" guy.

I was leary about seeing a Bourne movie without Matt Damon, but Renner did a very good job. Since Robert Ludlum didn't actually write this or any other Bourne books after the 1st 3, it was right to use a different actor. The action was great and the storyline moved along at a brisk pace. I did not get bored. Definitely recommend seeing this movie!

Loved this movie. Everything you would expect from a Bourne. The science is right up to the minute, the action scenes are compelling and totally sold. One of the things I like about the Bourne series is the extreme way they sell the fight scenes and other violent elements. The women don't just stand around like spectators in fights and chases and you really get a sense for the force involved in the fights, explosions and other impacts. The main chase scene ends with an amazing motorcycle impact.
The one thing I would change is the ending. I won't spoil it, except to say there must be a sequel.

I enjoyed the movie, but kept expecting some direct link up with the Bourne character, which never happened other than the one line that appears in the trailer about Jason Bourne being sited in New York.
The story line of genetically altered agents was a great idea! However, the story line appeared secondary to a string of localities with had no apparent significance to the plot and lots of run-on chase scenes that made it difficult to even care what the end result of the chase would be.
One plus was the acting. I enjoyed the dynamic between the two main characters, actors Jeremy Renner and Rachel Weisz.
All in all, I thought it wasn't a BAD movie, but it could have been much better.

Is it a Bourne legacy when they keep referring to Bourne and no-show Bourne? Renner was great but we thought the movie was a little slow starting and less action-packed than the typical Bourne movie, esp when he was touted as "better" than Bourne. Love the actors in the movie and thought they were superb although the dialogue was a little hard to follow. All in all though, I'd recommend it bc I'm a Bourne fan and looking forward to the next one!!

i have followed the bourne series from the beginning and i LOVE them! jason bourne was always one step ahead of everyone and which kept me on the edge of my seat. this movie did not belong in the series...at all. maybe this movie would have worked with a different title as a regular action movie. it was okay, just not up to par.

I was expecting Jeremy to be Jason Bourne but that was not the case which actually made the movie better. The scenes at first switched around a lot but once the movie settled in there was lots of actions and great chase scenes. I loved the movie and my wife did also and I highly recommend it.

The thing that I liked about the first Bourne movies was that Jason was able to take control of his situation and stay a step ahead of the bad guys. In this movie, they are just always on the run. There is some good action and fight sequences. It is worth going to see, but it just doesn't live up to the older movies.

Filled w/ intense but quick action scenes so it is must to pay attention! Great choice of cast and plot development for a series I thought would be over with Matt Damon's last sequel. Easy to follow the dialogue and completely leaves you wondering about another film coming... However, the sound was a bit muffled at times, but cinematography was fantastic. Will see it again to catch the scenes I missed...but that's the nature of Jason Bourne, he strikes when least expected

Bourne fans will find much to enjoy about The Bourne Legacy, even if they are forced to do without the title character. Gilroy has brought characteristic taste and skill to a nearly impossible task: embracing the past without completely erasing it, thereby creating an invitingly complicated and open-ended future. Smart, taut, sleek, tense and unrelenting -- an ideal action movie and a truly exemplary sequel. A must see.
