This movie has a strange premise but I went because the special effects looked promising. Overall it was better than I expected. I found myself rooting for Abe. Overall I enjoyed it.

This was a great sounding film, but i soon found myself asking questions that were never answered. It was very slow, and hard to follow. All and all i would say "wait for DVD"

This movie certainly won't break any box office records. Yet, it was an interesting take on the life of one of Americas greatest Presidents. The dialogue was average. The special effects were good enough to allow you to sit through this movie without regretable taste in your minds eye.The art direction was, I thought better than good but not excellent. Acting, merely average at best. The story line was what kept you watching. The blend of truth about our esteemed President along with the fantasy was well done also, better than good but not excellent. The camera work was very adequate especially during the burning train tressel fight scenes.

I expected this movie to have more of a "Tim Burton" feel to it (being a HUGE fan of his movies), but it was more toned down & believe me, it wasn't a bad thing! I would explain further, but I'd be giving the movie away. lol. The special effects for some of the fight scenes left something to be desired at some points in the movie, but the special-effects make-up was brilliant! Very realistic! The storyline was great, very poetic, lots of action & great acting! I didn't know this movie was actually a book first and after seeing this movie, I ended up buying it for my nook! I am definitely giving this a read! One thing I want to mention, they do NOT have this movie in the IMAX, so don't pay extra for it (like I did). Also, to be perfectly honest, one could do w/o watching the 3-D version of the movie. They don't even use it as often as you think they would. Well done to all involved!

The story was an interesting twist on Civil War history. The script was great, the acting was good, and the fight scenes were very well choreographed. I haven't had this much fun since the Bourne Trilogy!

With the most original title since Snakes on a Plane, this film relies on your basic knowledge of the life of Lincoln and your better knowledge of vampires and spins a tale of an axe wielding president with a mission to save the nation. There's nothing tongue in cheek here. Its a serious vampire slaying flick in the purest tradition salted with lots of tidbits from altered history. Its actually well done and fun. Some of it is over the top ridiculous as you should expect, but give it a chance. Its quite unique and the action and 3D are good. If you're a history buff or simply passed Eighth Grade History, you'll know the characters before they are formally introduced and enjoy the way the plot reworks reality. Its clever. Its stupid. Its fun!

I was so excited to see this movie, because I was fascinated by the book. It was so true to the actual historical life of Abraham Lincoln that it made me believe these acts were truly a part of his life. As others have said, this movie had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the book, with the exception of using a character named Abraham Lincoln. This was a disappointment to me, as I did LOVE the book. However, once I got past the "this is not how it went in the book" phase...this is a really fun, and unusual, action-adventure movie, with a tiny bit of history weaved in. Maybe this excellent movie will prompt more people to actually read the book and learn a bit more about our amazing 16th President along the way!
Pros well paced, great actors, good story, new and fun
Cons not for young'uns -peeps who brought your 6 yr old

I love history and enjoy Sci Fi so I couldn't resist going, but I didn't expect too much.....however..... I ended up really liking it and was very surprised by the well woven vampire/Abraham Lincoln/civil war story that kept moving right along from beginning to end. Lots of key historical figures and historical points included in the framework of the movie. The costuming was excellent and the acting very good. Great 3D effects and make up.
