I expected the script to be poor => average based on the two primary actors being high school students. Instead the script was well written - it was suspenseful & keeps your attention thru out the movie. Plus, there were several very good veteran actors in the cast. I would recommend seeing this movie. Some of the action was good, but the acting could have used some work. There were slow parts during the storyline developments that didn't seem to fit. I wish I would have waited until it came on cable. I would have saved a few dollars. Thanks!

I thought Taylor Lautner was just fantastic in this film. It was fast paced, kept moving, and kept me interested the whole time. Although I am a big Twilight fan, I am glad to see Taylor doing something other than playing the lovelorn wolf who cant accept that Bella loves a vampire! lol But I thought it was a great vehicle for him and I see him being the next Bruce Willis or Arnold Schwarzenegger! We need a new action star other than comic book heroes. I would recommend this movie to everyone.

Despite how well Taylor fits into the Twilight saga, he doesn't show his strengths in this film.
I blame the writing and directing first. Two teenage kids trying to mimic meaningful emotional adult interactions just failed all over the place. It was so bad it was almost comical.
I have high hopes for Taylor. Based on his Twilight work, he could be a star for a long time. But this film won't help further his career, unless he's going to focus on high octane B Level action movies.

Just another example of how bad of an actor Taylor Lautner is. It was terrible from start to finish. A great premise killed by a headliner who really needs acting lessons. I thought the movie was good. However, the title really doesn't go with the theme of the movie. Nathan was really never abducted, but fostered out for protection by his father. (I am not a Twilight fan and not in that demographic, so I am reviewing this just as a regular movie.)
They underprepared and he overreached. This could have been a pretty solid, derivative action movie. Unfortunately it was marred by a script with numerous logic problems and occasional wince-inducing dialogue. Sigourney Weaver looked embarrassed to be there, and Lautner is still too stiff and inexperienced an actor to rise above the mediocre material. (And how DID the motorcycle survive the exploding house? That must be one tough garage it was in....)
On the positive side, Lautner did fairly well in the action scenes and appears to have definite potential as an action star if he works at it and mentors with more-experienced actors. Some of the supporting cast, particularly Alfred Molina, gave creditable performances for what they were given to work with.
This is probably best watched as a rental, but if you keep your expectations modest and just look for some decent action sequences with an up-and-coming actor, you should do okay with it.

Amateurish in plot and acting. Lily Collins with her unibrow looks 12 yrs old. No car chase, nothing crashed or broken except a faux wall in a faux train scene. Amazing, a must see movie! Taylor Lautner was Extraordinary! Great Plot! Action scenes were amazing! Taylor Lautner Showed Off What He knows to do Best Act and Fight (Extreme Marshal Arts)! If you Haven't seen it what are you waiting for Go See It NOW!! Abduction was straight to the point and had no slow moments that made you think " I wanna leave! Im Getting bored" Nope none of that!! So I def. recommend Abduction it's a must see Movie!!

I loved ever minute of this movie!! Lots of action for the guys and lots of Lautner drooling for the girls. Taylor did his thing in this movie!! I was so happy it wasn't a waste of money. Can't wait till it's out on DVD, so I can buy it!!!

I've seen abduction two times already and I loved it! I went to the premiere and saw the movie, as well as last night at the Midnight showing! I'm going to take my dad on Saturday too!
Abduction has suspense, romance, action, and everything else in between!
It was great to see Taylor in a different kind of role, other than The Twilight Saga.
Go see Abduction! You won't be disappointed!

Critics are very seldom on the side of the consumer for action films, they're always measuring a new one to successful one to grade them like one critic comparing "Abduction" to the "Bourne" franchise. However, films are for the audience/fans and not the critics. If you are on team Taylor he's winning! If you're not a Taylor fan but love a good action movie, "Abduction" wins! The movie isn't about Taylor's acting ability as it is about him being able to carry an action film and he does! Director John Singleton has done it again!
